| Just how can you compare Michael Parkinson with Neil Fox ? Parky' never held an official role with the club, he was an "honourary vice president" in a vain attempt to get him to invest. Years ago, stand season ticket holders were designated as vice presidents,a title meant to flatter and did not give the holder any other benefits. Neil Fox is respected throughout the game and is always present at home games. If he held an official position in the club, his presence when dealing with the R.L powers that be would be a great advantage. He was until a couple of years ago a member of the R.L disciplinary committee, and his opinions would be listened to. I fail to see how his appointment would in any way hinder the effort to bring back the missing supporters.

| i quite like the idea of having a "figure head" but I am not sure this should be someone who has been part of the club before. Could it be someone from a big business who maybe is a sponsor or investor in the club already. If he or she works in an environment that is high pressured and high profile, maybe they can inject some much needed business accumen into our set up.
Please do not think I am saying the new team do not have business skills, I am merely pointing out that by bringing in someone else from "outside" a fresh pair of eyes with a wider scope than just Rugby League maybe just what the club needs. I am sure if you look at our range of sponsors / partners there are a vast array of people with different skill sets working in different jobs who could add value to the new set up
Wonder if the new team have any connections that could work with the club in an advisary capacity. He or she could be used to generate new ideas / bring in sposnorship / generate interest back in the town.
We have a huge network of schools and colleges in this area and I worry that a lot of the youngsters have started to go to Leeds / Bradford etc ( yes becaue they are a winning side ) but more so because they have marketed themselves really well.
Do we have anyone from a sales & marketing background ( I know that Martin Hopkins comes with great experience here and I am sure he will be a fantastic assett to us ) but could we bring in someone else?
Having said all of this though I am massively excited by the recent developments at the club and I am delighted that the new regime is in place. Maybe we are trying to run before we can walk and maybe we should go back to basics, but thinking longer term lets aim for the moon, we might just hit the stars ( god that was a bit profound )

| Maybe we could have an honorary life president or something like that, somebody like Neil Fox would be the obvious choice but this is the sort of thing that i would suggest.

| Should be Neil Fox, end of. No faceless businessmen needed for a purely decorative role, they can invest to get a title, Fox deserves it for the status he, and his team-mates, gave the club for their exploits.

| fair point t-r-i-n-i-t-y but who says the person should be faceless?
Agree that Neil Fox is someone who should be honoured by the club and its new regime and hopefully they will do this ( along with all past great players )
A "businessman or woman" is ( in my opinion ) what is needed. Andrew Glover has gone on record saying the club will be run as a a business and as such what better way than to get more heavyweight people involved to help to grow the club. We are in a great position now and I am sure AG will do us proud but sometimes we need to look at what is on our doorstep and think outside the box by bringing in experts who can help shape the future of this great club
I also agree with what you are saying in terms of people investing in the club but if your product isn't all that good then you may not grow. By growing the product ( and by that I mean by marketing it better ) then hopefully we will move on.
Remember what KK said " if you build it, they will come".... Lets start to build it!

I don't remember Karl Kirkpatrick saying that. I do remember him getting chased by someone with a brolly though!!

| I think as far as marketing goes, we have just been bought by someone who has made a successful business selling in quite a competitive industry.
I think Andrew Glover will know (or have someone else who does) just what is needed to successfully market a business.
Things will change very soon, just give him a few weeks to settle in.

Marketing is key, as much as general business acumen is. Until we all get to knwo Mr Glover better, we shouldn't just assume he's got all the answers!

| Yes lets give Glover time to settle in, I'm sure he will work things out, and appoint people as he moves forward, like he said, James and him self need to push hard for new franchise, the rest will fall into place as time moves on...

Don't get me wrong I don't think it should all be left to him anyway. We all know someone who used to come and watch games that has become disillusioned and no longer comes. It is our responsibility to persuade those people to return.
Having said that I still feel that Mr Glover and his team will have a far better understanding of marketing than the previous regime, and that we will see that over the next few weeks/months.
