Part of the problem is that the club hasn't engaged with the 18 -30 age group well enough IMO.

If the trust wants people of this age group involved then there will have to find a way of doing so. An informal event to introduce the aims and ideas behind the Trust aimed at the youngs ones might well get us interested. Another big point is not to turn away any offers of help, they will be some in this age group who won't have the skills to make a huge difference, but will want to develop the skills by being involved.

As for an informal event, it could be something as simple helping organise a Tag or Touch Rugby Tournament with the local team with people from the trust and Supporters Direct on hand for people to talk to beforehand / inbetween games / afterwards. From personally expereince, after representing Wakefield in last years Supporters' Direct tag tournament (we finished 3rd btw) meant I got to talk to people involved with other Trusts (like Rochdale) and people from Supporters' Direct actually got me looking into how trusts could make a difference.

2 points to add to this discussion:

1 There is lots of funding around for the junior section - classroom etc, which the club have been very good at tapping in to - hence there is strong emphasis on this.

2 There is a massive jump between the cost of a child season ticket and an adult one. I have suggested before that there should be more emphasis on the cost of tickets between the ages of 17 and 21 say. Not easy to do, but I reckon there's a genuine long term benefit to be had from this!

I can't say what happens in the SL or Championship in the UK but at TO they do special 'family' deals www.to13.com/abonnement for example we pay €190 (about £160) for a season ticket which allows a couple plus one child to watch the ten league games plus the two home NRC games plus the annual pre-season friendly against the Catalans really good value IMO - I don't know how this compares to the other Championship clubs ? the club often do special free games for school parties,like most other clubs probably.

This is an excellent point. At my golf club they found that lots of people were junior members paying circa £150 a year then as soon as they turned 18 the membership went up to circa £600 and most people left so the club so came up with a scheme where the membership price went up by £50 a year until you reach the maximum rate.

Maybe we could implement something like this where the price of a season ticket goes up in stages from the junior price until you reach the full adult price.

There was going to be a supporters group 16-21 run by people of that age group, there were plenty of people who notified the club of their interest but that never got off the ground.
