I love this city,
this is my town.
We get a week out, without a doubt,
gunna sing it out loud.

| That is essentially correct Clan.
It does also move for more power to local consensus on large scale projects. Communities could veto projects to protect green space. On the face of it our opponents could be licking their lips, but they'd be wrong IMO when it comes to this case.
IMO the case for a community stadium is one we can all agree on. There have been numerous studies, some by WT, others by WMDC.
The same for locations, let's not forget that NM was named as a potential site in the feasibility study for Thornes years ago. Then there are much more recent studies which have been done in conjunction with our OPP, this site IMO has been proven to be the best for such a project in our district.
Then let's think about the 15,000 petition, which was done on the back of the need for such a facility, yes opponents will say that it failed to mention the "true nature" of the site. But IMO if you had asked every person who signed the vast majority would happily accept the whole concept in the process of acquiring a new home. So IMO any claim of a lack of validity on the part of the petition is false (& very insulting to those who worked so hard to make it the success it was!).
The people of Wakefield have spoken on mass on this issue, the council have acted, the logic of "localism" says the government will not only allow this but encourage it. In fact localism IMO end's the days of the "nosey neighbours" such as our friends in Methley. Why should anyone outside our region have any say?? Are we not best to decide for ourselves, as they are for themselves?
Localism only gives local groups greater powers to object to plans in their own area. Unless Mrs. Fender wants to start forwarding her council tax to WMDC I think she should mind her own business, and leave Wakefield to mind ours!

| TRB - do you mean you believe the decision is not imminent yet, or the noises you are hearing are different to what Townville reckons. This is all so depressing.

"The Secretary Of State is of the opinion that this application is one that he ought to decide himself because he considers that bthe proposals may conflict with national policies on important matters. The Sec retary of state accordingly directs, under his powers in the above 1990 act, that the application shall be referred to him instead of being dealt with by the council"
"To consider all the relevant aspects of the proposed development, the Secretary of State has decided to hold a local enquiry"

| This is why I come on these boards.
Rumours from 'nobodys' etc often come true despite what 'in the know's', mods etc say.
They are often wrong but lots are true and if you want the latest news forums tend to provide it.
How long will this news take to get published officially?

Do I 100% trust a poster on a Cas only board with 7 posts to his name, every single one of them putting down the development... no! Looking at some of their other posts there are clear factual holes in their knowledge of the process, but that does not stop them from knowing some in the government office and this being 100% true! Whatever the decision, I am very sceptical this person has any inside knowledge and it is easy to make these bold statements with 7 posts to your name on what is sort of a 50/50 chance (if you know what I mean) of being correct. I think we might know this person on this board but I won't go and throw some names around this time, because I mucked it up last time and I really can't be bothered! So what I am saying, if they are proved right or wrong, is that I don't believe they know anything at all!
'We' don't know anything and to make it clear to everyone 'we' have never claimed we do, I think the chances of any news being leaked prior to Wakefield MDC being notified are slim, this isn't Wikileaks scale of news here guys!
Lets just see... it could be June Fender taking offence at my joke about her sticking her head in the oven if they don't get the news they desire!
I sort of owe this Townville character on my new favourite forum an apology! They did clearly know, but the possibility of it leaking from within Wakefield MDC to them (as I would speculate it probably did), as you can see from above, didn't cross my mind! Shame it fell into their hands and they went straight into gloat mode, so not sure they deserve anything more than this!
