Quote: Lupset_Airport "I once went to a Grand final between Wigan and Saints (free tickets.) Before the game I was intending to cheer for Saints, hating moaning Wigan fans and all that, but when I got outside the ground the place was full of extremely badly drunken scousers. So it was Wigan on the day. There was about 10,000 Saints fans all in all which is disgusting for a side steeped in glorious history. The Wigan fans still left 10 minutes early though.
I'll probably hope for just a good game tonight but if the Scousers ruin the one minute silence I'll be rooting for Pat Richards side.'"
I went to the game last night and haven't watched it back yet so not sure if it can be heard, but the way some of the saints fans reacted during the minute's silence was disgraceful. It wasn't just the odd one either. No matter what your feelings are about the guy and what he did he was obviously extremely troubled and hurting more than we can imagine, so much so he took his own life even though he was leaving a family behind. I would hate to think what his family felt to the reaction of these morons and just hope they weren't watching.
I went into the ground not sure who to support, but this made up my mind.
Having said that, I was outside Old Trafford from 11am doing research for the RFL and Leeds Met Carnegie and met 100s of people who all acted impeccably from all clubs in Super League (thanks to the two wakey fans who let me interview them). A great day with a great atmosphere tarnished by a few idiots.
