I don't see the problem in supporting a completely new merged team from the area. Sure I would prefer to support my home team which I have been doing for nearly 50 years but in all honesty both clubs are gonna limp along having the occasional good run of form, but I think this district deserves to be one of the big boys.

The position of Box as outlined on the W.E. site is hillarious. The council made their offer regarding the land just over 12 months ago. It would appear that at that time the council felt that 'gifting' assets with a total value of 4+ million made sense in the interests of the community of Wakefield and the five towns.

However due to budget cuts they don't feel they can justify this now. It is staggering - where have they been. Budget cuts were always going to happen and they would have known that when they made this decision. The Value for Money arguements being applied now were just as applicable 12 months ago as they are now. Of course feasibility study is the sensible option - but it was the sensible option years ago and it was the sensible option 12 months ago when the council made their initial decision.

Im a long time advocate of a stadium share - I am of the opinion that the RFL need to take another look at the pressures they are execerting in terms of stadia and francise bids. The rush to comply with licencing is bad for the game - it will result in millions of wasted pounds leaving our sport. Money that could be used for the benefits of our communities and in improving the infrastructure of the community and junior game. This is absolutely the business of the RFL.

If there is a genuine appetite within the council for a feasability study it will be interesting to see the scope of the study. Exactly what will they be seeking to extablish the feasability of?

Which site is best suited to sharing?
Which site offers bect V4M in terms of the land the council are throwing in the pot?
Which development offers most total benefits to the community?

think with in a year or so we will both be marketing as a district club as one,there is no way the rfl will rest untill we a merged.if the ground was to be at gh i as a wakey fan would still attend every home game its only a couple of junctions extra down the motorway

No merger of clubs what ever happens Wakefield people are different to cas people and cas v wakey are the best games of the season so we cannot merge never ever never ever !!!!

The thing is, with the parcels of land loaned to both parties, Newmarket doesn’t need a review to know which site ticks more boxes. The paranoia in me thinks this would be no way independent, IMO it’s already a done deal, that’s why Wright wants it apparently without even knowing what the parameters are and why Trinity are a little more reserved on the matter.

As I said before, the commissioners of the review didn’t want to include the community facilities on offer at Newmarket, one of the key areas of the development, but were quite happy to include the railway station at Glasshoughton.

1 stadium = merged team within a couple of years IMO.

Wow, this has prompted me to do what i have said i would never do, post on a message board, so here goes.......................

Its about time we, Cas and Wakey supporters stopped the 'mines bigger and better than yours' crap and started working together on this one, because the ground sharing nonsense is just the precurser that the clowns at Red Hall want to force the merger issue again.
The ground share is a no no if we both want to retain our individual identities, and imo the team that moves out of its own heartland will be the one that withers and dies.
We should ride this storm and stick with our own plans , us at GH you lot at Newmarket and if both fail or the Superleague decide we are not wanted, then tough, let Leeds pretend they have a rivalry with Bradford when their supporters see Cas and Wakey as their real derby opponants and we will recommence hostilities in the championship along with a tasty extra derby with Featherstone.
Superleague will miss us both more than we will miss them, and we may just have a laugh on the way, saving both clubs identities and sticking 2 fingers up to the clowns at Red Hall.

And please do something about the 'newgroundbeforecas' poster, he makes your fanbase look a little odd

The "Community Facilities", for what they are, can easily be built at Glasshougton. The railway station right on the doorstep is an obvoius advantage that Glasshoughton has.

They wouldn’t put any money into GH. The extra money comes from the value of the two plot of land combined to partially fund one stadium instead of two.

Put it this way, Trinity go to Cas there is no chance of picking up new support, some of the hardcore may go with them. Trinity go somewhere else nearby, say Barnsley, then some of the hardcore will go with them and there are possibilities that they will pick up new support.

Both include travel a certain amount of distance. One offers better opportunities to grow the club. I know which I would prefer as the Plan B option.
