| It's about time a completely new merged team was on the agenda. I have been watching Wakey since 1960 and would not have any problems with a merged team as long as there was no senior partner.

| Great post. I think that after a few seasons, maybe just the lifetime of one licence, both teams would be reaping the benefits of the shared, jointly-owned ground. Thoughts would naturally turn to a merged club. I agree that this is the only way to challenge the big clubs, and with the talent this district generates (which now is snaffled by Leeds, Bradford, etc.) we would as a merged club be able to retain this and genuinely be contenders. Some fans would rather see us just limping along forever, looking over our shoulder until the RFL find a legit way to get rid of us. I, however, believe the club should take control of their own destiny.

| Quote The Devil's Advocate="The Devil's Advocate"It personally makes no difference to me where Trinity play, my concern would be, if it were to be at Glasshoughton, whose ground would it be?
If Trinity were just lodgers then, the writing would be on the wall. I can imagine a large number of Cas fans creaming themselves at the thought.
If, however, the ground was joint owned, that’s a different prospect.
But, at the end of the day, both clubs can stagger on from season to season, winning jack-all. Whilst unpalatable, a joint club is IMO is the only way to have serious ambitions to win some silverware.
I can understand Cas fans exulting the virtues of Glasshoughton, I wonder if they would go and watch a merged team there, and not one with the name Castleford in it?'"
I would ,if the team was playing at GH

Planning permission at Newmarket for their proposed development excluding a Community Stadium.

Add to that, people seem to think that Yorkcourt are putting limited, if any, money into the Wakefield project anyway. They wouldn't be losing out much. Waystone and Cas would.
At least this way we can preach about being the only true derby? Hull's are in the same city, we're in the same stadium - beat that!

| Merger, yes. Groundshare, no.
I'm all for a groundshare. I stop at that though. I will not support a unified club if it pains me.

| That did occur to me, but I thought I was being just a bit too cynical. They might well be looking at a scaled-down version of the original plan. This may even have been their contingency plan all along, who knows. Some of these developers are masters of the long game.

Thats a question i have asked but it seems no one knows. i'm still being told that the funding is still short at GH.
The last line of the SWAG statement says Wakey will noT be going to GH.
Confused, unhappy, sick, worried and Sad.
