Now when most players know they are coming to the end of their tenure with a club they have been with for so long, its far too easy for them to rest on their laurels and just meander through the rest of the season like a tired river estury heading out to sea. However, I have every confidence that from now until the end of the season that JD will be putting his entire heart and soul into every performance, just like he has done since his arrival from Widnes in 2004.
As for the 2011 captaincy, well there's only two real candidates for the job.
1. Glenn Morrison - yes, he may be 34, but he has on the whole put his experience to good use this year and has been very influential.
2. Sam Obst - he has been with us since 2005, so has been around long enough not only to know and understand the set up within the club, but more importantly, has won the respect of his colleagues and fans alike.
One person who needn't bother sending in his CV for the job is Mr Cooke - yes after another inept performance yesterday, I wouldn't even trust him to sweep up the dressing room floor after training sessions and matches.
So back to Jason Demetriou and we must all salute a truly loyal and dedicated servant of this club, who shall never be forgotten.
We're gonna miss you JD.
