Quote trinfan71="trinfan71"People are saying he should go some are staying he should stay. Reading this thread you can honestly see more constructive argument for him going. I have no wish to offend anyone but it is a sad state of affairs when the best argument for him staying is either 'he saved us a few seasons ago', 'who else is there?' or 'for me he should stay'.
When the question arises who is there, well who had honestly heard of Stuart Raper, Nathan Brown, Tony Smith or Michael Maguire (the list could go on) as established coaches before they came over here and made our coaches look Dickensian in their methodology.
As to he saved us a few years back, as grateful as we are in this day and age past glories don't really hold much respect like they used to.
When people say for me he should stay, it is really good that people still back him but offer something to back your statement.
For me I believe as a coach Kear has gone through more in the last two years than most coaches will ever go through. That being said Rugby League is now more business than sport and the powers that be need to take a long hard look. I have a lot of respect for John Kear and I don't believe he has become a bad coach overnight, I just believe he has gone as far as he can with us. Don't get me wrong I believe there is still a place for Kear at the club I just think it might be time for some fresh ideas.'"
My arguement for him staying uis based on the fact that over the period of time he has been here, he has improved players, taken us further in super league than anyone else, and his win/lose ratio is excellent considering the player list we can afford.
The team has had a big dip in form since we lost players this season. I think he is doing his best with what he has and will take us forward again when we can acquire the right players.
At this time patience is important for the fans, and unfortunately that is not normal. Everybody wants success right now.
It was a bad day at the office v Wigan. Let it go. It doesn't mean we all have to cry about getting rid of players and managers.
If we get rid I think we will be a lesser club because of it but we might have a flash win or two but we still don't have half backs to take us through the season. If we keep him it might be slower but it will get better again over time.
It might seem brave to say but I don't think Wayne Bennett would do better with the team we have right now.
