| Quote: The Clan "There are a number of options that the club should consider before committing itself to long-term signings. Much will depend on how ambitious the club is, and how much money is in the kitty.

James Tamou
North Queensland Cowboys prop, second row, off contract at the end of 2010
21 years old
6'4" - 17st 7lbs
A big prospect in every sense of the word, made his first grade debut as a 17-year-old but has only made a handful of appearances since then. Well thought off and there would be competition for his signature.
And then of course there's my old favourite Arana Taumata!
Currently signed with West Tigers, and apparently doing well both on and off the field but can't get a run at first grade. IMO , he would be an absolutely fantastic and well timed signing for our current team.
I don't know who does the scouting for the club but these are the sort of players that we should and may well be aware of.'"
Missed off the former 'next Sonny Bill' Karlos Filiga currently not playing first grade in Oz

From that articleLEEDS winger Lee Smith was last night given the green light to play in Saturday’s Challenge Cup fourth- round blockbuster at Hull.
England man Smith, who has just returned from a brief spell in rugby union, was found guilty of illegal use of his knees on Hull stand-off Jordan Turner in the Super League clash between the two sides last Sunday but escaped suspension and a fine. He was cleared on a second charge of using his knees on Shaun Berrigan in the same game'"
Now that IS a surprise.

| Quote: gowerthegroap "Who are you kidding?! Yes we've just come out of a recession, but there is no doubt we must have a fair wedge of spare cash sat there doing nothing right now. The crowds are not that different to last year, yes the players that have moved on for various reasons have in the main been "replaced" in the slackest sense of the word, but the the two logically largest earners have not. We received a transfer fee for Atkins, there was a reported transfer fee for Brough, and as far as i'm concerned, in the main, the salaries of Brough and Drew are still unaccounted for. So feeding us the pony about financial circumstances just won't cut it.
I'm not saying we have are in the position to pick who we want because we all know it doesn't work like that, but to say we're in financial strife must be attributed to mismanagement and that alone. I don't have figures and I don't claim to be in the know, but logic alone stipulates that we should not be in the position you paint we are in.'"

| Personally I think someone like Mike Cooper (who has just returned to Wire) would fit the bill. Obviously we would have to wait for Carvell's injury to heal.
Or possibly Luke Burgess, who isn't in the 1st choice 17 at the Rhino's, but is a young forward, with bags of potential and point to prove.
The more I think about it the more I come to the conclusion that I for one am all in favor of signing no more Aussies after this Tronc situation. Build up what we produce, we have the talent in this country, we just need to show faith & time!
Until a player such as the two I have mentioned comes along I think we need to give a chance to the lads we have, who are working their socks off in the juniors.
Yes we might find it hard now but we're building a sustainable and viable future & for god's sake theres no relegation!! That's what this system is about & rewards.
So just be patient, sit back and watch the superstars of tomorrow grow under the best British coaching duo in the code- FACT.
