Quote: cocker "Whilst on the topic of poor performances, this is the main reason why our crowds are so poor IMO. Every time we have an opportunity to show our potential we blow it, semi final last year and again last night. It wont matter what our stadium is like if we don't start winning something or at least get to a final we will not attract more supporters, especially charging 20 pounds. Its the barren cup years that are costing us most not the stadium....don't misunderstand me I know we need to move but people will not come to the matches just to enjoy a nice seat or cover.'"

That is a good point - we flatter to decieve at times, and always, but always fall when we have the opportunity to shine!

Hull in the CC
Wigan in the CC
Catalans in the PO
Leeds in SL

We desperately need to break through in one of these games and, based on the fact that we did so in 2004 at Hull - who finished 3rd that year - this season is only on a par with that one and is not, IMO, our best season in SL! icon_confused.gif

Quote: casfanforlife "There is only 4000 of you think so - poor attendance from a team finishing in their highest position ever in super league. No matter what happened to you tonight this was always going to be your last home game of the season I would have thought more could have turned out for the players to applaud their acheivement. Cas will be taking at least 3/4 of that over to Wigan for an away game - if not more.'"

How boring the majority of Cas fans are. icon_razz.gif

In relative terms this has been a super season. Well done and thank you to JK, PB et al, good luck to all those moving on (except for their games against WT!).

Catalan throughly deserved to beat us. Well done to them and good luck going froward.

On the night I thought that we got our answers to the Grix as starting half back question. His handling too frequently fails to deliver - passing to the floor or causing the receiver to break his run. A very valuable squad member, no doubt but not a starting half back for me, not yet anyway. I don't agree with some that Drew had his mind on Hudds - but he did have an off day.

I don't understand why Obst doesn't spend more time at 1st or 2nd receiver. I like him as a pivot, I think he has a decent handling game, is more than capable at taking the line on and offers more than an adequate threat with his boot. I think our turn around in fortune in the 2nd half on Saturday coincided with his return to the field.

As for the crowd. Dissapointing for sure BUT a) people are broke b) the game was on TV c) the game was on at a very unsociable time for families (I had to go alone but at a more sensible time I would have brought a full car).

The worse thing about the loss is the tripe, garbage and nonesense we are all going to be reading and writing now over the winter.
Arrrrg - when does the season start again.

I can understand why the posts are quite negative on here as we lost a game we could easily have won, but I don't agree with the "didn't turn up" statements.
There was no lack of effort on the part of Wakefield, it just wasn't working.
Without Brough we didn't pin them back like we normally do, and it meant their big forwards could work us over a bit. I thought our forwards did well at making tough ground, we just didn't do anything on the last plays.

How many times would the passes from JD have gone to the winger (can't decide whether it was Murph or JD at fault) - that would have been 3 tries alone.

In addition, when Grix kicked through for George, he was opposite a big forward who had no chance of getting to him. That forward stayed on that wing the rest of the game but we didn't kick again. Brough would have given him a nightmare.

It might be an anti-climax but at the end of the day we had a great season and have learned a lot about the team and what they are capable of. We are strengthening for next season, and the kids are looking great.

Bring on next season and the playoff adventure again.
