In 2005ish we came out of the CVA and were supposedly debt free!
IIRC we then announced that we had made a small profit for the next two consecutive years.
Are we now saying that we have lost £1,2 Million over the last two/three years?

Remember reading that after 2006 when when kear had his first full season in charge we were expecting to make a loss due to having a large squad and also other projects. we were also expecting to make a loss for the year after aswell.
Cant see it adding up to £1.2 million tho

I think we had a CVA for 3.5 years from October 2000. So that would take us to around March / April 2004. These accounts were for the period to 31st Dec 2007 (I think), therefore we had over 3.5 years trading in that time. During that period we knowingly invested more into the playing and community aspects of the club - otherwise the business would not have been anywhere near the required standard for a franchise. All of this was done on the back of the fact that we had an asset value in BV which has now been converted into (partly) hard cash - and yes, I think we were running at around £300k+ down per annum for a while, so that would account for the defecit.

The shareholders gave the board a mandate to do what they could to secure a new ground for the club - I guess that the sensitive nature of such is why it has taken it's time to get out. Shocking that it hasn't 'leaked' out before now, to be honest.

Has anyone rung the club to see how to go about buying some shares.
I would be interested in doing my little bit to help.

| The shareholders should be asking
1. Who are the developers and their directors that pre-purchased BV @ the end of 2007.
Just a bit of honesty please.

2 worries for me
I remember Rochdale selling the Athletic ground to help fund the club the rest is history I do not see how a small club with no sugar daddy can post losses of over 300K per season without getting into real trouble long term.
the 2nd can any of us see Wakefield averaging gates of 10,000 in the next 5 seasons never mind by 2012 I have always feared for one of Cas and us come 2012 and just can not see us both still being in after 2012 I also fear clubs like Widnes and Leigh will never be seriously looked at again
What happens when Quins and Celtic don’t get an average of even 5,000 by 2012

The shareholders were told on Tuesday who the developers are.
Also the directors should be congratulated as the ground was sold at the peak of land/house values - if they had waited till now we would have got approximately half the amount

If what you say about Cas and Wakey comes true and I for one cant find an argument against it. Then as you say it would/should be virtually impossible for Widnes to get into SL purely on the location of their ground in relation to Warrington and St Helens and the proximity of the 3 grounds'
which are in actual fact closer than Cas, Fev and us. So if your fears' about us and Cas come true where exactly does that leave Widnes and to a slightly lesser extent Leigh?

That is quite right, but in this case it was a conscious decision to imporve the quality of the club - on and off the pitch. This started with the investment in Domic and Solomona - and although they have left, there is no doubting that we have improved on the pitch from the era up to 2003 and that we have become a lot more professional off the pitch since then too (that's not saying we still haven't a long way to go yet!).
10,000 gates is very much desireable - but I still think that will be limited to Wigan / Leeds / Saints (just) / Bradford / Hull / and possibly, by then, Huddersfield / Catalans and Wire - at best 8 clubs - at worst only 5 - not enough for SL. So whilst we need to aspire to that figure, it won't be the end of the world if we're not there.
As JK said on Tuesday - if your riding high in the top 4/6/8, then you'll have a good chance of being in!

Very true, but also very speculative, given that we don't as yet have another ground to move into (even if we all hope and assume that the Stanley project will be given the green light, this wasn't on the horizon in 2007).
Do we now lease the ground from said property developer? Who pays for maintenance/improvements to the ground in the meantime? How long can we stay there?
Whether there was a mandate to sell from the shareholders or not, it seems an odd way of going about the whole business - to me at any rate.
