Quote PopTart="PopTart"I don't see this game as falling away badly.
We (Smith) made a couple of mistakes that gave them a roll on, and we tried to chase the game and gave an interception.
We competed with a team that is far better technically and physically than us. We couldn't keep it up because they played more freely on the back of our mistakes.
Fall away means we gave up. I didn't see that. I saw fatigue from tackling bigger players and letting tries in out wide when getting drawn in tackling players that would have bust us if we didn't.
We weren't great at times but we weren't terrible either. And at times we looked like we had a chance.
I'm tempted to say we drop Smith but I'm not sure our options are better without. He does run the plays well, but he made too many mistakes today for it not to be a consideration. Disappointing because I thought he started well.'"
Largely we lost because of the many unforced errosr we made, leading to far too much time/energy in the 1st half defending our line. When we held the ball and kicked decently I thought we looked like we had the measure of them...but the fall away looked like fatigue to me as a result of time spent tackling 1st half. This is like every game, just about, this season. We are not learning anything and every match is Groundhog Day. Is it the players? Is it the coach? Is it both? I don't know for sure but it is getting very hard to watch. And tediously predictable
