Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.

| I really thought we had found our feet and were beginning to play at the pace of the game. The previous three matches in 6 days show that we can do it.
This emposed short break seems to have stripped us of all we have learned - we didn't even give Fev a game. They simply ran along the line to find the weak spots then ran through an open door - flailing your arms about like a windmill and trying to grab someones collar as they run past does not count as tackling in my book. Our line speed was way too slow so they had acres of space to set up their plays and gain momentum. Dashing out of the line to put in a hit is OK if you are accurate, if not you leave a huge gap.
When I got back home I watched the game on telly - at the 30 min mark the commentator said " Keighley have already made 96 tackles"!!! They had runners and options we had rabbits in car headlights. Silly mistakes and penalties robbed us of what little pressure we could sustain. It was interesting that when we produced runners and options we actually made some progress (as also noted by Brian Carney).
We all knew this was going to be a tough year, we've just got to dust ourselves down and get on with it. Featherstone showed what a good team they are, we need to make sure we can make the most of games against the lower order teams.
I'm not going to name players, thats counter productive, they know who they are, but they need to iron out those bad habits quickly. So far we have been helped by softer grounds but the hard grounds will expose our weaknesses ten fold if we don't learn (again) quickly.
Credit to Fev, they played what was in front of them with great skill and gave their fans real value for money. As for Daryl Powell smirking, I think it was just a coach pleased with his teams performance, in his position I'd be smirking too.

| Quote: spener "dont be too harsh on your boys.....it was short notice but dont forget that powell didnt know he was playing cougars either......we arent great fans of red hall or sky but it seemed a sensible decision at the time(for a change).....the scoreline reflects the confidence running through the fev squad at the mo'"
That's very true, but Powell at least knew he was preparing for a game against [i"someone"[/i whereas our lads were virtually "on holiday". (I think Daley Williams is still stuck in Spain)
However, you deservedly whupped our collective buts and we've just to get on with it.
I look forward to the return at Keighley (or do I )

| I expected to get beat, Fev are a good side, but that performance was abysmal.
Light years away from the Fax performance.
The tackling was atrocious.

| Tackling? There was tackling? Yes, it was utter rubbish. But, we're still on the same points as before, it's a game less to play later when the schedule is very crowded, and we lost to a very good Fev side. I can't see there's much to learn from that game, so let's forget about it, and move on. Go Cougars!

| Yes we played crap most of time but also with ball in hand we looked good, quite simply it was bad day at the office.
Remember we have in last few games played very well and we will again, to me Fev looked best side we played.
Mindset was definetly an issue in my eyes and only Barryand players can deal with it.
One thing I have to say is the players never gave up and this was exlempified by Danny Jones who at end of game came over to fans and was visibly upset and apologised to the fans, unlike some clubs most of our fans stayed and applauded the players off the pitch this is what supporters tend to do.
Roll on the Barrow whist it will be tough I feel we can beat them, hopefully all the forwards will be fit.

| We were lacking Daley down that side.
We were lacking a first choice prop in Scott Law.
I think with the above two, if they had been totally fit and on their game we would have done well to loose by 30.
Fev gave us a master class.
I was pleased Danny kept his record to 41 games.
The ball speed of Fev was first class across the field.
The wingers were on rocket fuel.
As much as I like all the players in our team, we are essentially playing a Championship 1 team in the Championship.
Fev, Barrow and a few others are getting the investment we at Keighley can only dream of at this time.
I would love to see funds which would allow Barry to do a little shopping and soon, because I think more than a few of our boys looked out of their depth in the last 30 minutes especially.

I think the club is in a bit of a catch 22 on this.
Do they spend money and then go down, or do they wait till next season and spent money?

I singled out Danny Jones because he had a good game with the highlight being yet another 40-20 which was up the slope of Post Office Road. I don't recall him missing tackles I'm prepared to corrected on that though as I'm not a statistician. For a half back his defence is very good and he made some good tackles last night.

We don't all have to agree with.

| calling players turnstiles in my opinion is slagging -off and not good at all, nobody was more gutted than me, but were all in this together, we knew this season was going to be a hard and some times frustrating, but we as fans need to give the lads 100% win or loose, thats my opinion, cougars till i die....

Fair do's. One thing you will realise with me is that I call it how I see it. When we play well I praise the players, when we play badly I will critisise them.
I try to be constructive, but Fev good as they are, at times went through our defence far too easily especially on our left-hand side where poor tackling technique was exposed. Far too often tacklers were going too high on bigger and stronger players which led them either being handed off or the tackle busted leaving the tackler spinning like a turnstile.
It's simple physics Mass x Velocity = Momentum and all that, but if they go for the legs there's a better chance of stopping them. The age old "you can't run without legs" what they taught in tackling practice as a kid springs to mind.
When some of our smaller players are trying to tackle like prop forwards it's asking for trouble.

You might call it slagging off. Others may say, its calling it as it looked.

| I have to say I am suprised by some comments here, I am in agreement with Wonderer.
We played poor against Featherstone but remember they are top of the league for a reason and unbeaten because they are a quality side.
As for the reference to some players being turnstiles I think its poor, over last few weeks when we have been playing well and the defence was solid how come there was no reference to turnstiles then.
Frustration with the performance is one thing but slagging the team off like this is in my eyes sad to see.
As said before poor performance but against best team in division get real folks.
