Some dubious decisions (yet again) - unpenalised forward pass that led to their second, first-half, try; but that's what we've come to expect over the last 50 years.
Just shows what we can do when we need to!
The only down-side (not tonight) is the games that we could have and SHOUL HAVE won! Then there'd be no need to progress through the play-offs.
WELL DONE TO THE TEAM WHO PLAYED LIKE A TEAM
Firstly well don to the Cougars on putting our champagne back on ice till next week at least.
Secondly, you fail to menation the dubious decision when Josephs try waqs disallowed for obstruction when clearly Hawkyatd runs through the line obstructing nobody. Please if your going to paint a picture about the game make sure it is a fair one.
Good luck in your remaining fixtures i am sure you will cement second place.

Well if Marshy1 says the try should of stood personally I don't know why he is not the best ref in the world. He must be right eh?
lets not forget Marshy1 everyone in the standing and seating sections will tell you the cougars outplayed Salford/Swinton in the 2nd half. You know it, I know it and even the sky guy outside the ground who didnt see it knows it.

As I said "Well done to the Cougars".
But you have merely delayed the inevitable.

Are Swinton supporters becoming the new Bulls / York fans?
Come on ...yeah we all know you are going to be Champions...but allow us our moment of glory(or should that be two ) without malice .
BTW someone should remind your 'rent a crowd' under the shed that in Championship One it's normally not considered 'good form' to chant abuse at the opposition fans........

Didn't you score off of your next set of 6?
A purely hypothetical argument this but, had Joseph's effort been given would you have gone and scored the one straight after? I doubt it.

| Fantastic. All the lads played out of their skins.
As for the fans,we may have been small in numbers but we made a lot of noise.
Watched the game again when when i got home.
Good to see the Cougar Crawl again.
And now for the trip to Workington. Bring it on.

simpsons/simp048.gif I have only been wrong once and thats because I thought I was wrong but I was wrong I was right!
Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.

| At last! A game where we turned up in both attack and defence
A very big well done to all the lads and coaching staff, it was a very exciting game to watch and everyone in the crowd sang their hearts out. They tried everything but could not unlock us, the ploy down the right wing that worked so well last time for them was simply shut out.
Still need to cut out the unforced errors though - gave them too much field position, but we'll forgive that for now COS WE WON!
Makes the trip to Workington very interesting, can we back it up? Confidence must be high after two good wins, we just need to stay focused.

| Congrats to the Cougars! It was a top effort from all your fans that made the effort to come down, it made for a really good atmosphere.
I do think our try should have stood, then again, who's to say you lot wouldn't have gone up the other end and put another 20 points on the score board. The ref had some odd calls (both ways) but you can't do anything about that!!!
I thought both teams were evry evenly matched and the Cougars took their chance right at the end with that penalty. BTW, what was going on with your kicking?!
It was a top game to watch, and a good advert for CC1.
I think the Lions will come out victorious as champions but I wish you all the best in the play-offs and beyond.

On the kicking - Our first choice kicker didn't play, 2nd choice was the water boy and 3rd choice didnt come off the bench until 25 minutes in (he kicked the winner BTW)
Agreed on the good advert for CC1
All if's and buts really, but Swinton's last 3 are South Wales (H), Whitehaven (A) & Rochdale (H). Technically they need 4 points from the 9 to be crowned champions if Cougars win all their games. Still an outside chance or am I dreaming?

A good post. Thanks, Bryce. You're right it was a very evenly matched game and a great advert for CC1. There was a bit of sour grapes at the end with comments about us staying in CC1 for another year, met by retorts about us at least having our own stadium but, from my own point of view, I was happy to have seen such a great game between our two sides (as the last one was), and I was overjoyed of course that we came out on top - just. I wish the Lions all the best and sincerely hope that the Cougars will be able to play them in their own stadium, in Swinton, before too long.
Aside from, as usual, being good at putting themselves under pressure sometimes through silly errors, I thought the Cougars were fantastic to a man last night. You could see they didn't want to be beaten and that determination paid off. A word about the Cougar fans - AWESOME. How many were there of us? About 150 'appen? But what a racket under that covered side in the second half. The lad with the drum - you did an excellent job! It was a joy to be there. It looks like the play-offs for us but, never mind, that's the way our cookie has crumbled. Come on you COUGARS!

| Don,t get bogged down by marshy perhaps he needs to mallow a bit.
Seriously having watched game a couple of times you could see the determination on the players faces when defending.
A big shout should go out to the conditioner as the fitness is clear to see.
With Salford moving into new ground does anyone know where Swinton will be calling home next season.

| Having had the chance to watch the game again curtesy of Sky+ I can see nothing at all wrong with Joseph's 'try'. A lucky decision for us there.

That said there were a couple of their tries at our place that should have been chalked off for obstruction. Its the risk you take when you play such an expansive game as they do.
