Bit of an uphill season if you ask me.

I don't know the full details of 2001 but thought that the current (?) directors tried to do their best considering the situation someone else had put the club in.

I am not to sure what this "historic debt" is but I don't like the idea of companies running away from their debt, it just leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

I can see why new investors do not want to carry existing debt - they want a clean start to get the best bang for their buck. If the club is reforming I hope other businesses do not get hurt. The club needs all the goodwill it can get.

Lets see what the announcement is.

It will be a real struggle to overcome a points deduction.

We've not been in administration so I'm not sure we'd be deducted points.

As for Cougars 2001, who knows, hopefully no one gets shafted (including people like myself who bought a season ticket 2 days before this crisis broke).

The most important thing though is that Keighley Cougars lives on.

I'm not certain how it works but assume that the old club would be liquidated and the new club would need to ask permission from the RFL to continue. Depends if they (the RFL) attatch strings. Also, remember that the RFL own the Lease on the ground.

I may be wrong but if this is a case of the club being involved in a takeover and not going bust. bear in mind an appeal is in place against the taxman to take place december 9th. Based on this the club will have changed in name and directors only and therefore points cannot be deducted in case of a takeover.

I'm not sure on the legal aspect, but thats an interesting point.

I said at the time that the RFL holding the lease on Cougar Park was a masterstroke in case this scenario ever happened.

Now it's in their interests to have a club playing there, so I can't see the new regime having to many problems getting cleared to take over.

Stealth is right, it has been a hell of a week for everybody wondering, worrying, stressing, its best to sit back and wait and cool it with the negative comments as its not helping anyone (Hands up - I have also been gulilty of making negative postings out of frustration), this situation obviously goes deeper than most of us are aware of and we will all find out what has happened and what is going to happen soon enough

Very true. But being human beings we all love a good moan. You are right we do need to chew our tounges.

For many of us Cougars is our hobby, subject of conversation over tea, name on a shirt, entertainment at the weekend, maybe a bit or quite a lot more.

For some people it is paying the mortgage, putting food on the table etc.
Not many of them on here moaning so we should wait and see what they say.

I know it exists.
