Better crowd today should have swelled the coffers. Need to back the coach and allow him to bring in a couple of BIG forwards with some presence to support Rawlins & Nicholson etc

Crowd was 927 yesterday our biggest home crowd v York since 2012

Last years attendances v York were 631 and 658

Last years average was 593, this season average currently 753.

Is the behind the scenes work generating the increase in attendance or is there some other reason??

927? I hadn't heard that, although it did look like a decent crowd. Pity the team couldn't put in a top performance to keep all those extra people coming down. That's really some considerable difference from one week to the next - wasn't the London attendance somewhere around 500? I wouldn't know whether behind the scenes work is helping to improve attendances or not but if we don't make the top eight there is a serious danger that the terraces will be empty during the latter part of the season. I really hope that doesn't happen but the lads are going to have to wise up and play smarter ASAP.

I think unfortunately that was a must win game. We have Whitehaven (currently playing well) and workington away. Cant see us picking up anything there with our current defence.

We have Oxford at home last game before the super 8s on 16th July. Likely a win at home but could come down to points difference. Id say realistically we need a win at Workington otherwise we are in the bottom 8s shield.

Just looked at the fixtures i can see each team around us getting 2 wins from remaining fixtures. This means i think we need 2 wins almost certainly and not to allow any big points in.

I cant see it as it stands, Tonks will be banned now for 2 to 3 games aswell I reckon. Get Ryder in at second row

All Golds last 3 games are all against the top six so they might not get any more points.
Hunslet and North Wales will probably get two wins each.

So we might be ok with just one win v Oxford as long as we don't get hammered by the Cumbrian 2 and then put a big score on Oxford.

Top 5 at the end of the season looks well gone though

Not sure how much benefit being in the top 8 will have though we'll only have 3 home fixtures but with better crowds. Whereas if we finish 9th we'll have 4 home games but worse crowds. Then a probable 5th home game in the league one shield final.

Obviously I want to see the club in the scrapping for that top 5 play off spot, but financially in a weird sort of way it might be better for the club to finish 9.

If you look at the RFL Distribution of Prize Money, finishing 9th and winning the Shield would get us two lots of prize money which put together would add up to more than the teams in 7th and 8th will recieve.

The League 1 Shield : The bottom eight teams in League 1 at the end of the regular season compete for the League 1 Shield. They each play each other once after which the teams finishing the season in first and second place contest the League 1 Shield Final, to be hosted by the team finishing first.

So, if I've got this right, if we beat Oxford next week then the season is over, as it is for any team in 6th, 7th or 8th position but if we loose and North Wales win then the season continues with the League 1 shield a possibility of 8 games. What I said earlier "a crazy crazy way to run a sport". Its not just prize money, it's continuing the season, it's the beginning of July and a long time until the new season starts again, what February? phing ridiculous.

I thought we had an 8/8 split for 7 more games for each team, and then play offs?

Hi Stephanie, I'm happy to be proved wrong, I was only going by the info from a famous web site which I quoted in my post and next weekend is the end of the regular season but with what you are saying we have at least another 7 games once the split occurs with a chance of still making the play offs, happy days!
