| so in your opinion for the back five and especially in the three quarters position as you first stated who would you see fit to be a sold link in an evergrowing strong chain of players ?
yes a forum where you put your opinions and views forth but you should be able to back them up with a solid reasoning and intent for saying them.
my teddy is securely in my pram i just dont se how somebody who has never played the game at such a level could comment on needing strength i would think if the players other jd visit this site would take offence to this.

What a load of rubbish! Everybody is perfectly entitled to their opinions, regardless. It's called free speech. To say somebody can't have an opinion cos they haven't played at that level is extremely narrow minded to say the least. Certainly looks to me that you don't like the fact that Dominance has a different opinion to you.
Some of the most successful managers in sport (Ferguson, Mourinho, Wenger, Benitez in the football world) never played at the highest level, doesn't seem to have done them any harm and I'm damn sure that they had an input as to whether their squads were strong enough!
Forums are here for everybody to use, wouldn't be much of a forum if you had your way and limited it to an elite few would it!!

Pretty fair points to be honest. It's difference of opinion that generates discussion and it would be a boring forum if we all agreed.

I cant recall ever saying our current players weren't good enough so I can see no reason why any of my comments would cause JD or the players an issue. Not that I need to justify my opinion however, just to enlighten you with my thought process:
2011 Squad (backs)
Belcher
Moss
Burton
Lawton
Duffy
James Haythornthwaite
Sagar
Baines
Lopag
Hutch
Sheldrake
2012 Squad (backs)
Moss
Duffy
Lawton
James H
Sagar
Barnett
Normington
From that I feel in a squad sense we look a little light in the backs. My opinion. As someone has pointed out, Jake is a dual reg and there is a possibility of him being unavailable for selection at certain times. I have played the game, but granted not at this level. You must know me to make that assumption? Have I upset you in a former life? Although, what that has got to do with anything I don't know. Maybe you see my opinion based on that as inferior to yours, or someone who has played the game. If that's the case then fine, but I still feel I have a right to an opinion.
I accept the 2011 squad is the one on paper and Baines was included due to him playing there a couple of times last season.
Even for someone having not played at this level, I understand the Champ is a step up in class and the need for a strong squad will be more important than last season. Also, players coming to the club, does not mean others are not good enough. Older, more experienced players bring on younger players, but I guess you'll know that already.

| If the signing of Sam comes off great stuff, if it doesn't never mind, we still have a really exciting squad for this coming season and adding better players will make it even more so. I can see us having a great season either way.

i do know that already yes. and out of all of the backs you named in 2011 how many of them were consistent ? better yet how many of them are still at the club ? i think jd has done a fantastic job of creating an outstanding squad. i see no reason in any more additions because the players we have retained and gained already will be a force to be reckoned with in the championship. as long as we have fans full support, not seem to be deeming the players we already have, not to be worthy of your clearly high expectations.

Cougarmania 1978 - Why do you feel the need to have a go at everyone who disagrees with you. People on this forum put their opinions forward and if you don't like the idea of that then maybe you need to avoid forums.
That being said, I agree fully in that JD has built a very impressive squad and I'm very optimistic about the new season with or without Obst.

| because people on this forum seem to take the view of what we have isnt good enough, if obst came great a player with super league experience and quite frankly unmatchable skill from any other championship half back, if normington ends up signing great a young enthusiastic player who can play all over the park and is a bit of needed aggression, but as i see it there is no tradigy if they do not come we have strength in those positions already and i am quite happy with the initial squad before any add ons.

No one is saying they are unhappy.
The chance of getting better players in is great.
Upwards and onwards.

You should be ashamed of yourself for this comment. The right to free speech is for everyone and a fundamental cornerstone of any modern democratic society
This forum is about fans being able to use their freedom of speech in order to talk about Keighley Cougars. Yet you feel the need to abuse your right to free speech in order to try and suppress the views of others that are contrary to your own.
Why can't you put forward a reasoned argument and debate it in a civilised manner like everybody else does on here? What's with the 3rd rate trolling?
[iI disagree with what you have to say but I will defend to the death your right to say it -[/i Voltaire

| I think we have a strong squad but the proof is in the pudding, and other clubs are still building too. I'm excited for the start of the season with the squad as it is now.
In response to cougarmania_1978 "i see no reason in any more additions": the reasons I see for continuing to attract the strongest players to the club (providing we can afford it) are:
-Gives us depth in case of injury
-Creates competition for places within the squad so they strive to be better than each other
-To give JD flexibility choosing the right players for the right matches
-Prevents our competition having the players we want
-All our squad members learn from the more experienced squad members
-Another strong name from Super League may help to attract more supporters to games
there will be more reasons that I couldn't think of.

| A rugby league paper this week reports that we will know this week if Sam is joining us, the report says JD hopes Sam is given a Superleague contract as he feels he should be given one but if not he is confident of signing Sam up as a cougar
You have to feel for Sam as he is obviously rated highly yet is not receiving offers from Superleague, Wakefield are reported to no longer be interested
Well dont worry Sam, keighley will welcome you

| He's come off the quota too so am surprised some SL clubs aren't taking a punt. I think Wakey have switched their attention to another player and have all but signed Tim Smith so it would appear they are cooling their interest a little. He'd do a great job for us and hopefully if he did sign he could put himself in the shop window for a future move.
