Which rules are you talking about?
Gateshead asked to go down.
The RFL did not put them down.
As i said, the two are very different.

There has been a lot of fine words from Cougar Park about building for the future. The Tax man is someone you do not mess with, it's ok ripping off local suppliers like the man who supplied those flags waved at the final, or shafting the junior club, but the tax man........foolish'"
Agreed.

All very good points.
More than likely it will all come out in the wash and we will find out just what has gone on.

| Until we find out what the actual situation is, why dont we just shut up and stop speculating. Rumours start quite easily on forums and spread and get changed by people quite easily. I believe GW when he says it is nothing serious and we will still be playing in the Championship next year.
It will all come out in the wash and when it does we can make our own comments and observations then but I think we do nobody any favours by specualting.
Hope you agree and in the meantime get behind the team and look forward to next season.

| Well, I blame Thatcher. She never did like little northern towns.
Meanwhile, me and the lad will be getting our season tickets this week. Come what may, as long as Cougars can put a team out, I wanna watch them. (says the new supporter! )

| I have no idea whats going on at the club. Everything looks rosy at the minute. We win the play offs, get promoted, sign loads of new players, keep the players we already have. The work in the community and schools is going great then we get lumped with this?
Ive been watching Keighley since I was 5 and I think the fans that put their money over the gates week in week out to support the lads should be told whats going on.
Are the players going to want to play for a club that can't afford to pay them?
And if players walk out, is there any point of going into Championship with already minus points before a ball has even been kicked, and a weakend side? Surely doing what Gateshead has done and asking to go into Championship 1 would be a better idea should this happen.
I'll support the lads no matter what but all I can say is this has come as a MASSIVE shock!

| while not always agreeing with guess who on this occasion i do regarding this position, my sources hp and daddys confirm most of what has been said. What folk have to understand is tge taxman is under more pressure because of an impending electiion to get as much dosh as possible. The fact we are the latest to be challenged whilst disappointed includes at least 3 super league clubs and 7 premiership union clubs. The cougars have made a offer to the taxman that failed, but the clua will continue to flourish. My message to the doom and gloom merchnants is this whilst unwelcome is no more than a bout of trapped wind. 1 big fart and it will go away.

Now is not the time to be blaming people. The questions that need to be answered are WHY and HOW.
Why did we not pay the taxman when we should have?
Why was the financial outlook for us made out to look good when clearly it isn't?
How are we going to get through this?
How are we going to ensure this predicament doesn't happen yet again.
Many of the people at the club have done a fantastic job and we should keep supporting them, it's what being a real fan is about staying with them through thick and thin.

I agree, but this has come as a huge shock to all the loyal fans, we have had a big boost with a good win over Oldham that secured us promotion, the club put on a great offer for a season ticket which many have taken up on, then this 'announcement' comes and knocks us all for six making us wonder if we have thrown our money away and lost a club we have our hearts in for reasons as yet unknown, I'm sure that it has been a blow for the directors but at least they saw it coming - or should have!, I have no doubt that the club will overcome this problem but when are Keighley ever going to be able to move forward?, the idea that we may qualify for super league in the future seems an amazing dream, I get the feeling the RFL will laugh at us as we seem able to build a team but unable to balance books and invest in the ground - something tells me that history will repeat itself when the time comes and the team Keighley build will fall apart to the big guns once more - I don't doubt that the club is capable of building a team, just that we will never be taken seriously if we can't sustain what we have and build on it

| I don't know why clubs try to postpone the inevitable by not paying the taxman. They may be able to continue to trade, but it is a ticking time-bomb waiting to explode.
We have been fooled into being optimistic about the following season, as the club tells us how this time we are better placed to step up to the next level, whilst this has been ticking away in the background.
Fingers crossed that the club can sort this out and we do not start this season that we have all been looking forward to doomed before we start.
