I think we need to run the team.
We would never fall out as we seem to think along the same lines.................not sure if thats a good thing.

| Hellliwell is better than both Smith and Coleman.

When I saw Luke play for the first time last season I thought he had real potential and didn't mind getting stuck in.
He's not had a very good season this time around though. I don't think his distribution is good enough for a half back at this level. His longer passes seem to fall short which either slows the momentum of the attack down or leads to handling errors.

| And he seems a tad injury prone ??? When JD and luke have paired up together they looked (at times) like defences havent known what the hell to do with them ....

| It's a difficult one really because all 3 have never had a prolonged spell either through injury or squad rotation. Smith and Helliwell have had more than Coleman. In my opinion all 3 have their individual merits such as pace, flair etc but on the flip side they each have their weaknesses. It's certainly an area to look at next season as this is a crucial position. Every successful team has a quality halfback.
I tend to agree with Stealth that I would play two of the above and let JD do his stuff at 13. Based on Sundays performance which one of forwards do you drop? Illy was defensively sound. Will and Baines were top draw.

Got to admit it's a difficult but good situation to be in. Maybe even too good when you so many good back row forwards all on pay as you play contracts.
Mind you it's a 17 man game nowadays. Someone can be can still be just as important a player coming off the bench as a starter.

| After this season, maybe its time for JD to be a coach only.

| The existing halfbacks all have their own good and bad points, but only one of them (JD) have the confidence and ability to move the team around the park.
If you look at the excellent video of JD's best bits then ask yourself which of our other halfbacks would have scored even half of those tries? JD has an eye for the gap and his determination and mental toughness is second to no one else in our team.
Ideally JD should be at loose forward, but as things stand we are effectively getting an extra forward when he plays himself at stand off.
If we win the next two matches we are up and I hope he bases his selection on this thought alone rather than "team rotation" and "giving everyone a chance".

| i think the squad rotation system coincided with our rather costly slump in form, and i think JD as good as said this, and said from then on he would pick his strongest 17
So i cant see him rotating the squad for the next 2 ABSOLUTE CRITICAL games to get us out of this god forsaken division

| He's already done it on Sunday, bringing in Coleman and leaving out Gav.

I think he adds more to our team than some fans appreciate. I think he's got 1, possibly 2 years in him yet. Long may his form continue.

| Just remind me; Who does 'Guess Who' support? Or is he playing 'Devil's Advocate'?
There's no-way that JD should even think about only coaching - he's still the most-inventive player that we have and, if we are promoted, then we'll need all of his Super League experience to stay up. He's always given 100% plus in every game this season and we'd have lost several more than we did had he not been on the field.
As far as 'Coleman or Smith' is/are concerned; after Smith's rejuvinated performances at scrum half (until he was 'rested') then it got to be Smith as he gives that extra bit of pace where it's needed - around the scrum.

| As a Skolars fan and getting to see Jymel play here he offers you something I feel you miss an organiser and a kicking game. I agree smith is quick around the ruck and was playing well the last few games however his distribution and execution of plays can be poor. Technically Jymel is fantastic he does have area he needs to improve speed sharpness, however you need to remeber he didn't play for 4 wks before his game at the weekend. Plus he's coming into a good team half way through a season. I think jd brought him in to organise the team and get you round the pitch which in my experience of him he does excellently. I think the few games you played both smith and Jymel at half with jd at loose you looked a much more balanced team

| To be fair to Jy-Mel he's come into the team half way through the season. In his first appearance at south wales he picked the team up considerably and showed more attacking intent than any body else on the field and then he backed it up with a decent performance against gateshead (granted a well below par team) but then he's not had much chance since. Having said that I think his fitness isn't quite up to speed with the rest of the team at the moment, if this can be sorted then I think he must put himself in the frame.
Luke Helliwell is a good player on his day but as previously said he's injury prone, and I think he'll be a bit lightweight in the Championship.
Ryan Smith, jury's still out to be honest, may be time will tell, but I thin kthe Championship is a level too far.
for any knit picker out there: these are just my opinions on what I've seen so far this season, so don't get stressed about it!

| It surprises me about Jymel fitness although he doesn't look great lol he always seemed to be fit, is it correct that he still living in London till October so can only train thu and sat, that along with a few weeks out can't be helping his fitness and sharpness
