| We might have been there in body but we certainly were not in SOUL!
The biased ref didn't help, but he never does!
That said, playing 14 without any apparent interest to do anything to break their line : passing without drawing their man, one-man rugby, ettc., etc., Need I say more?
What a difference a game makes!

| Very poor team performance today although Oldham played well.We need second spot to stand a chance of going to the play of final i think, so now is the time to stop this rotation of players and get a settled side to try and achieve what will be a difficult task.

| Don't let Oldham 7th position lull you into a false sense of security, in that we are a poor team. Only Swinton have beaten us at home this season. We have only won once away to date, have been saddled with loads of injuries, and thats why we are 7th.
I've read the comments on here about Laughton, and he had a good game.( I cant believe I'm typing that by the way). Perhaps if Keighley hadn't tried to take our players head off while he was trying to touch down, he wouldn't have had to give a penalty try.
Remember, you had one player put in the bin, and your hooker on a red. Keighley started to get a bit dirty in the latter stages of the second half, and i suspect that this was through frustration.
Keighley need to regroup, and I,m sure you'll be back on winning ways. I'm looking forward to seeing a good game on sky when you play Swinton. All the best for the rest of the season, and I'm sure we'll be back at your place in the play offs.

| Their forwards more than matched ours and in the second half Roden ran the show. Their line speed and speed of play the ball was better than ours as was their defensive line. We looked like a different team to the one that played Swinton. They constantly tried to put our man on his back and we didn't appear to try. A lot of their tackles bordered on holding down, but they played to the ref as we should have done.
In the first half they built pressure on the back of penalties as did we. It appeared that penalties were the only things separating the two sides. After they scored the first try in the second half their increased confidence allowed them to kick on and we just ended up playing catch up rugby.
The ref made a couple of blunders, the main one sin binning our man but not sin binning them for repeat offences dispite a warning. Both teams should have had one man off for 10 mins. Apart from that I thought he just reffed what he saw. If you stand offside or rip the ball out you should expect to get penalised. Having said that I would like to see the Buster incident again, I'm not sure it was as bad as made out.
With regard to the penalty try, we have seen in superleague that if you swing an arm to dislodge the ball but miss and make contact with the head you are penalised. Without seeing it in slow motion its difficult to say exactly what happened but I don't think we were trying to "take their players head off".
They were the better side by some distance.

| I was stood right in front of this incident. Our player was subjected to a high tackle, and was held up by that action which prevented him from touching down. I, like all the rest of the onlooking Oldham supporters, were shouting for a high tackle. We were surprised , when Lawton went straight to the posts and awarded a penalty try. Very few Refs would have done this, even though it was the right decision. The Keighley player concerned was lucky not be sent off, or having the incident put on report. I can only assume that Lawton deemed it punishiment enough. The Keighley player could still be cited by the RFL.

I was too far from the incident to get a clear view, I can only assume the ref thought it clumsy rather than malicious. when a player is diving for the line a miss-timed swing can go astray. Not a defence, its just what happens.

| I thought it was a poor show yesterday, poor parking (5ft high grass banking to park on), poor bar (shut at 2.40 and couldnt open the doors from the ground till 3.00pm??) poor loos(ladies toilets blocked) , poor ref( bad errors) , poor facilities for smokers (although i dont smoke), poor viewablility, poor play from the Cougar team, but worse of all when a Cougar fan questioned JD about him messing about with the team, JD called him a "dick head". All in all £12.00 +£1.00 + petrol down the pan!! (not the ones at Oldham though as they were blocked) Gale/Goosey

| but apart from that it was a good afternoon out, yes?
luckily for me the sun was shining on the Worth valley and at 1pm on Sunday the thought of an hour each way in the car put me off.
Oldham are on a roll so it was never a nailed on win - and maybe we're not travelling well at the moment? heads do seem to drop quite quickly. hmm.
Donny next then.

I'm not condoning such actions but lets be fair, it depends how the fan approached him.
He's new to coaching, still has a lot to learn, and like a lot of our fans wears his heart on his sleeve. I would question whether straight after such a match was the right time to approach a coach who is obviously very frustrated with the performance and most of all with himself.
We have seen several experienced coaches fined this year for things they said straight after a match "in the heat of the moment". Barry had time to settle in, JD hasn't had that luxury, I think we should be prepared to cut him some slack.

| Fair play to Oldham they played the "pitch" and the ref far better than we did, tbh I would have settled for a bonus point after seeing the pitch.
We refused to park in the jungle down the far end and got up near the gate. I was gutted that they ran out of food before half time. It'd be interesting to see how they would cope against Halifax, Leigh Widnes etc with a couple of coach loads of fans, it was a bit of a farce yesterday with only 600 folk there.
How much damage has the performance yesterday done to all the hard work done over recent weeks to get the fans back to cougar park? I'm guessing quite a bit, saw several cougars fans at game yesterday that I haven't seen at a game for ages, and they left well before full time.
Attendance on Sunday will be interesting.
