at the Keighley Cougars. Also Jason Demetriou,Brad Drew,Gary Thorton,Dave Clark & Matt Bramald.
If i was to give the job to any on the list, it would have to be be Matt Bramald. He as played with the first team
so he will know the players& also the set up at Cougar Park. Who would you choose from the list?'"
I am not a Cougar supporter, but given that list I would go for Gary Thornton, just for the reason he is an experienced Championship coach with a great deal of passion for the game.

| Keep it in-house if possible, only fair to give the guys who've been with Cougars up to now a crack.

| Matty Bramald for me. Been in the back room staff of the cougars for the last couple of season. Knows the players the players will respect him. No good bringing a new coach in at this point when all the players are ready for the season ahead the new guy might play a different way to barry and upset the whole team!!! Matty gets my vote!

| How many of them have experience of coaching at first team level?
Thornton has so I'd go for him.
Had we been a mid table club in transition I'd have probably backed Matt Bramald but we're going for the title so I think we'll need some experience.
I reckon it could be Stanley Gene, once a big name in the game, could be used to attract more fans, icon in PNG so should be be able to get talent over from there.

| It is a very difficult decision to make due to the timing. As the team is already in place it would probably be the easiest to go with Matt Bramald.
The problem with this though is that it will not be seem as a very positive move by the floating supporters who we are trying to convince that the club is on the way to SL (Even though the diehards know this is nonsence). To them it will seem like the same old going nowhere club, opting for the cheap option. It will probably mean that the team will need to start winning well early on to get any where near a decent crowd. For this reason I think we need to show that the club is serious about its ambitions and need an experienced coach.
The one with by far the best record as a coach is Dave Clark, and his appointment would send a message to the rest of the league, and more importanttly the people of keighley that the club means business.

| Bramald seems obvious choice if for nothing else it will bring minimal disruption for the players.
If he does not get it Demetriou would be my choice he is also a goal kicker and with Danny Jones gone who will take on this mantle.
Martin Crompton has proved to be good coach as well.

simpsons/simp048.gif I have only been wrong once and thats because I thought I was wrong but I was wrong I was right!
Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.

Isn't Dan Belcher a pretty good kicker?
I can see positives and negatives for most of those in the frame, but I would not want the club to break the bank on someone who is untried and tested. Remember, Barry came as both player and assistant to Peter Roe before he got the coaches job. I am not sure we could afford to do that again.
I don't mind getting someone who is experienced and ambitious as long as they don't spend all their time searching for other jobs (like deacon did).
As others have said, it will be interesting to see who is picked and how the choice is rationalised to the fans by the board.

| I seem to remember that Chris Baines was a pretty good goal kicker whilst at Oldham, the Grand Final excepted of course!

| Doesn't read as if he particularly wants to come to Keighley though, does it? I'm not sensing much commitment to the cause, more the pay packet...

| Hope and pray that its not Gary Thornton. If you want training sessions that involve sitting in the changing rooms for half an hour talking about the weekends t.v. before a brisk jog round the pitch, established stars or talented young players stripping of all ability, and game plans written on a piece of A4 paper containing insightful gems such as 'Stuart Dickens is a big man, tackle him', then he's your man.
