Don't you like the idea of Cougars having a big hitter Non Exec Chairman with Gary moving to Managing Director in principle, or is it just the suggestion of Ann Cryer you don't like?
In my view, unless Cougars can attract an individual with substantial money to commit, such a Chairman with influence in politics/public sector, could be very positive for the club and Keighley.

| Agreed - Influence and a pot of money big enough to choke a donkey is what we
need , someone that can inspire everyone from supporters to big hitters with
Cash to invest. Influence will get the supporters to the club and people listening
and cash will buy extra players etc which In turn will get the supporters to the club ....
The ' two Micks ' had the right mix , cash was being raised at the club from allquarters
which bought the star players which brought more supporters which in turn brought
more cash which paid for a world class coach...... i could go on but I suspect you get my point !.

| Do you really think Anne Cryer would attract any income ? Is there any public monies out there anymore? A political figure in my view is a no no. Too me a figurehead "big hitter non executive chairman" (chairperson) is as much use as our website.

| Do you think we need a new Chairman or just a new commercial manager?

| Cant afford to pay for anyone unless they are on a commission only basis. It needs someone with long term vision going right back to grass roots and building up the fan base from junior level. Where are all the children? Where are all the twenty/thirty year olds? Is it rugby league in general, or the economic climate or is it Cougars?

| Accepted but all the things you mention would be worked on by someone with commercial experience. Would bringing in someone like Cryer etc really aid getting people down. Gary tells us the club are very much looking forward now and into profit making. IMHO a commercial manager is a must. By that I mean one who has experience and can help with getting the club "out there" again.
There would need to be a salary factored in, but surely a good commercial manager pays for itself?

If a commercial manager didn't bring in more money than their salary what would the point be in having them?
If the club did bring in a Commercial Manager, he'd need to be left to get on with the job. For some reason I don't think they'd get the chance to.

Exactly, so why has this never been given some thought?

Very true. I get the impression that are several forces at work within the club.
A commercial manager, given a decent budget and sole responsibility, would IMO get the club moving in the right direction. Will that ever happen?

| 1. Steve Ferres would be a great Chief Exec/Comercial Manager for Keighley Cougars (Castleforsd's Chief Exec until recently). If the Directors can't / won't guarantee a salary for such an appointment, why not see if he would join on commission only on the basis that the first £xx,000 extra money he brings in is his as his pay?
2. MICKY1920: You do a great voluntary job with match videos & player interviews. What do you think your chances are of getting an interview with each of the directors (not just Mr Fawcett)? I'm sure supporters would be interested to know their motivations and ambitions/plans for Keighley Cougars whilst the club is in their stewardship.

Not too sure about bringing anyone in whose been at Cas recently. To be quite honest they have appeared to be so poorly run that only a team going bust will save them from losing their Super Licence next time around. New ground hasn't materialized, crowds plummeting, rumoured money troubles, poor team.

simpsons/simp048.gif I have only been wrong once and thats because I thought I was wrong but I was wrong I was right!
Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.

| Steve Ferres has a history of good work in RL, but he also walks when he does not get his own way.
If the club had some money to work with then I would be very happy to have someone like Ferres. We would have no chance of attracting him at the moment.
As for Ann Cryer, I'm not so sure she would attract money per se, but she is a trusted individual and would still carry some clout when dealing with councils, funding bodies etc.
