| As much as I like Paul March I think the time has now arrived for a change of Coach
while someting can be salvaged from this season and avoid relegation.
We can assume losses for the next two matches ,, if this happens what then ?
There is no sparkle anymore , no leadership on the field and albeit 4 matches were
friendlies we have only 1 win from 8 games thusfar.
Time to step up and pull up your big boys pants Mr Fawcett and get us someone who will
get us the results and keep us in this division.

| As much as I agree a change is needed who do you suggest could replace him on the clubs finances and get the results you expect?

| Fair point , but Swinton are in the same boat as us but according to the website have had 8
' Quality ' applications for the post of head coach.
I do not expect a win every game but I do expect us to remain in the championship.

| No one can blame the board for selecting Paul March to continue building on the foundations left by JD he was the obvious choice. He knows the game inside out and has made some good signings strengthening the weak areas in the squad. But a coach needs certain qualities to have half a chance of delivering results.
Successful coaches all have the same qualities they are inspirational, intense individuals who know how to motivate different types of people but above all are leaders. With every successful coach is an assistant who has completely different qualities they are knowledgeable not intense but able to joke and lift the mood after the coach has given a player a good bollocking. I believe Marchy falls into the latter category.
Paul March is a good person doing his best for everyone but in my opinion unfortunately doesn’t have the required DNA to be a coach at this level.
We need a player coach who has been a leader at SL level who is capable of leading from the front who wants to have the honour of leading our club.

| The directors do have to share the responsibilities of what is happening, if they had Marchy in mind to take over jd or if jd recommended Marchy in my opinion they should have spoken to Marchy and said they would like him to take the position of head coach but they will have to put out to advert to see what interest they get first. I suppose you never know who is thinking of becoming a coach or maybe that someone like jd that is ready to step down from super league and become a coach. I think our problem will be the usual problem and that is money. We have cut back and cut back until there is nothing left to cut back on so if the club was looking at spending any cash any time soon then nows the time to spend that on a top coach, a leader.

| Its too early to start talking about replacing the coach. Paul March should be given a fair and decent chance.
Key players like Rawlins and Wray still to return from injury, so lets not hit the panic button just yet.

| Ok,fair enough comment ,but when do we hit the panic button ?
Things cannot be left much longer ,should the worst happen and we
have not won in another 4 games is it too early then?
Things need to start happening now as we do not want to be cast adrift at the bottom
of the championship, relegation to the 'league of doom ' cannot be an option.

| If the club sacks Paul, they'll have to pay out the remainder of his contract. Then there's recruitment costs, then you have to pay the new guy.
Bottom line being can they afford it?

| IMO 4 games and 4 friendlies is enough and not too early.
In the very early days of the fabulous ' Cougarmania ' (all hail the two Micks )
Tony Fisher was ' let go ' after the cougars lost the opening game of the season,
to Bramley I think.
How about seeing what Roey is up to these days

I agree
We need the first 17 on the field and allow them time to play before criticising them, unfortunately this isn't going to happen for approx 5 weeks so we are looking at a rough couple of months, we have to hope the squad available in the meantime get some points on the table.
Marchy has proved himself as a coach at Hunslet and needs our support right now not fans calling for his head

| When Baz had his first season managing us in Champ he did not get a win until Easter and we got some right stuffings prior to that. Nobody called for Baz to quit and he was there full time. Paul is doing this part time.
Baz never had the players leave at the end of one season and the injuries Paul has.
We were beaten narrowly by a team of similar standard.
Danny Jones IMO did ok at full back but his skill, passing, and vision was missed in the halves.
Anybody who does not think Pauls Heart and effort is not 100% behind Cougars is a fool.
He is trying to race a car, he has some good parts, but still has a few parts missing and whilst waiting for the parts to mend other parts get broken. There is little money to buy new parts.
I don't think he has had a strongest 17 yet.

| Not saying his heart isnt in it, he just isn't good enough coach and doesn't seem to be able to motivate the players. Simple if doesnt go we are down

| Having calmed down, i think getting rid of March right now is not the answer. Infact I bet the club can`t afford to.
Two tought games coming up though and can only see heavy losses.

| Not oneperson has said he has not got the heart or commitment,he has lots and it
can be seen, when one speaks to him cougars ooze from every pore in his body .
What some of us ate saying is he does not have the skills needed for the intense league
that is the championship , we do not have much longer to get things sorted.
Also micky, I have the upmost respect for you and the fantastic job you do
filming our games but please stop the name calling.

| To me Swinton looked a much better team than they were last year. This may be because they were looking to impress before a new coach comes in, but they all gave 100% especially in defence which was superb. This was what won the game for them as they held us up over the line on at least five occasions in the second half when it looked certain we would score. Compared to when we defended our line on one of only two or three times in the second half and somehow they got the ball down when there looked to be nothing on. That was very sloppy on our part.
In attack we were very one dimensional, only having two moves. Barge at the line, or sling a long pass from half way which in every case but one either went to ground or was nearly intercepted. Part of this problem though was, as Paul March says due to having five props on the field. We were lacking any speed in the second row, and our centres were poor. Along with this Danny Jones had probably the poorest game I have ever seen him play, being responsible for most of the dropped passes. The move to full back may have worked last week, but yesterday he just seemed to get in the way. When Mossy is back he should be able to move back to Stand-Off, with March at Loose forward which should enable us to get some stability.
There is a long way to go yet and there will be no easy games, but when we get some of our injured players back the results will start to come. Give Marchy a chance, he knows the game much better than JD at this level and has a decent track record in the Championship.
