We were playing great, in complete control and we blew it.

Our left hand side defence just completely fell apart.

And what was the man of the match sponsor smoking? Sam Obst was the best player on the park by a mile.

In the last 20 mins. We didnt appear to have any one taking control of the game.
Some really poor decisions were made.

Funny how people see things differently. I thought Obst was quite today.

I hope the ref watches his own performance today.
To say he got a few things wrong is an understatement.
IMO he was the difference that cost the game.

Yes we made a few errors but a great performance and I think when the league gets going we will cause teams many problems.

Remember the last Batley game?

www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaFTZQdPUZ8

I think we were the better team by a long way over the 80 today and fancy our chances of taking 3 from them at their place and ours.

It was his precision kicking game that really stood out for me. Full Backs and wingers were turned every time. For such a little guy his defence is ferocious.

Full credit to Batley, they stuck to their game plan and pulled the win out.

With 20 mins to go, I think if we had got another score we would have run away with the game, but we took a lot of wrong options.

Still looks very positive though, once the side settles it will be a top half outfit.

I very rarely criticise referees, but that was a ridiculous performance.

In saying this though, we simply bottled it. I can't blame the referee for that.

I have to admit that the referee's performance was poor.

The decision to allow their first try was abysmal, it was as clear a forward pass/knock on as I've seen.

That said we should have closed the game out, we didn't.

With the ref I think he was bad both ways so thats no excuse

We had it won and blew it the last 15 minutes

2 things for me chaged the flow of the game.

Our failure in attack to score more points from our dominance in possession was a big point as we dominated the teritorial match for 60 minutes

But especialy the nock on from Duffy under no presure at all - That gave batley such a boost and completly changed the game. Just one incident like that clicked a switch we missed tackles, gave penalties away after that to give the bulldogs victory

In general I was happy because it was an improvement from the Bulls game thats foresure in a meaning match aswell, We can take positives out of it and hopefully use them to get better still. And the fact that Batley are a decent team, we will play worse teams than that season, Id personaly rank them 4th behind Leigh, Fev and Fax.

On indicidual performances id say no way Barnet MOM, the last 15 mins showed our left side frailties in defence with tadulala. That needs fixing

On who I though was a our MOM, Id say Coleman if hed have had some more game time, I thought it was a master stroke playing him at 13 sadly when March was on for him the attack seemed to lose impitus.

On March, I still feel he doesnt cut it anymore, Bottom corner he had a 3 on 2 to score us what would have been the try to seal it to either get Parrata and Duffy in , A shocking pass came from him and Duffy did well just to retian possesion 20 yards back.

Obst, I though he was less effective than he was was against the Bulls, I agree his defence was top draw, But im not going to nock him, If feel John Kear had him pegged well as the bulldogs had him closed down effery time

Korkidas, i think he did OK, his repuation again was downfall, he had 3 guys round him in a flash everytime he got the ball, one thing I will critisise from that, is that his play the balls were slow, with the defence hitting him as they were if he had played the ball that bit quicker im sure the halves could have been able to pounce on a depleted defence. In defence he was solid

Danny Jones - Very poor for me, he simply was picking the wrong option time and time again while in defence he must have missed more tackles than anyone else

JD - Thats clasic JD for me the MOM he really does do well in that position, left to do hard graft, I dont know the actual stat, but he must have been our top tackler and he ran it in stongly like a second row should.

Parrata - Pick of the backs for me - He was a rock in defence, meaning practicaly duffy had no tackles to make, and when he did get the ball he was a handfull but sadly the service was not there.

Like I say its not all doom and gloom. It leaves room for plenty of optimism

For me the game turned when Danny Jones sent a grubber kick through on the left hand side early in the tackle count that went in to touch when there really was no need to do it. Batley scored off the next set.

Like Stealth says capitulation.

Taking nothing away from Batley they took their chances very well.

Semi Tadulala struggled in the centres, he did not get any decent ball in space and defensivly he was at six`s and sevens. Bloke near me says he needed to pull his socks up icon_smile.gif

Obst had a very good game but not enough runners coming off him with any purpose.

We were in control in the first half but did not put the game to bed i think Batley were in our 20 maybe 4 times at the most.

JD looked strong think he needs to play in the centres and move ST to the wing.

Danny Jones! Kicked far too early and did not take the ball to the line and try to commit defenders.

All the Props put in good stints, when the grounds get harder think Korki will come to the fore.

I think we look like we will be a good dry weather footballing side.

I was very impressed to say it was our first serious run out and at times we played some decent stuff, just the players who you thought would penetrate struggled in the conditions.

I am sure Guess who will be questioning which game i was at!

Quiet as in, he didnt appear to be organising the attack. In the last 20 the game needed grabbing by the scruff of the neck.
I would have expected him to do this.

I agree with most of what's been said, we blew it! - the big plus is we have improved every game, have pressure for positions and it looks like there is more to come. Batley have played at this level for a few years we have to make the jump to playing with intensity for 80 mins not just 65.

They will be very pleased with their win, but if I were a Batley fan I would be less than pleased with Kears tactics. They have gone from a free flowing, hard hitting rugby playing team to spoilers. Some may disagree, but I simply don't like that style of rugby.

A tough next game, will be interesting to see how JD handles it.
