I found the answer, wiki's your friend! it seems that Albert Fearnley was the coach in the 1980-81 season until having to resign due to poor health. Albert was replaced by Bak Diabira.
The reason I have an interest in Albert Fearnley was that I remember seeing a game in, I guess, the 78/79 season when Blackpool were the visitors. On paper we had a much better team than Blackpool but Fearnley had a strategy that really wasn't cricketicon_wink.gif, well it wouldn't be would it! What Blackpool did was cause great confusion in our defense by going for drop goal every time they got near our 25yard line. At that time the point from a drop goal had only recently been down graded to 1 point, so not worth the effort and of course when Blackpool dropped the goal everybody laughed, then they did it again and again and again, we stopped laughing, this wasn't right! Blackpool got promotion that season by winning games with the drop goal, perhaps it's not nice rugby to watch if your only scores are drop goals but it certainly rattles the opposition and can split a defense wide open. There has been many a match were we don't seem to be getting though the defense and I have often thought about Albert's strategy!
