No one can blame the board for selecting Paul March to continue building on the foundations left by JD he was the obvious choice. He knows the game inside out and has made some good signings strengthening the weak areas in the squad. But a coach needs certain qualities to have half a chance of delivering results.
Successful coaches all have the same qualities they are inspirational, intense individuals who know how to motivate different types of people but above all are leaders. With every successful coach is an assistant who has completely different qualities they are knowledgeable not intense but able to joke and lift the mood after the coach has given a player a good bollocking. I believe Marchy falls into the latter category.
Paul March is a good person doing his best for everyone but in my opinion unfortunately doesn’t have the required DNA to be a coach at this level.
We need a player coach who has been a leader at SL level who is capable of leading from the front who wants to have the honour of leading our club.

To me Swinton looked a much better team than they were last year. This may be because they were looking to impress before a new coach comes in, but they all gave 100% especially in defence which was superb. This was what won the game for them as they held us up over the line on at least five occasions in the second half when it looked certain we would score. Compared to when we defended our line on one of only two or three times in the second half and somehow they got the ball down when there looked to be nothing on. That was very sloppy on our part.

In attack we were very one dimensional, only having two moves. Barge at the line, or sling a long pass from half way which in every case but one either went to ground or was nearly intercepted. Part of this problem though was, as Paul March says due to having five props on the field. We were lacking any speed in the second row, and our centres were poor. Along with this Danny Jones had probably the poorest game I have ever seen him play, being responsible for most of the dropped passes. The move to full back may have worked last week, but yesterday he just seemed to get in the way. When Mossy is back he should be able to move back to Stand-Off, with March at Loose forward which should enable us to get some stability.

There is a long way to go yet and there will be no easy games, but when we get some of our injured players back the results will start to come. Give Marchy a chance, he knows the game much better than JD at this level and has a decent track record in the Championship.

My thoughts too. Peter Roe is a Keighley lad through & through.. a014.gif . im a poet & I knowit... did someone mention management on the field.,, when attacking there try line. 3 yards out why send silly looping passes out to the wing only to be intercepted,, by there winger (penny) lucky for us he finger tipped them 3 times, the only guy on that field with fire in his belly was Buster and they took him off, I asked him on the condition of Daley Williams he said it could be a cracked rib, then someone next to me asked him why he came off, and Buster replied he didn't want to come off, he wanted the full 80 minutes, Ingow lad, a014.gif March you have to go, no excuses, im sure its his idea of payback time, when he was with Hunslet, Coach ive S%%T Em......( Do one )

I really don't think any of us was expecting this result from looking at all the predictions and feel god comments about the game but it's now time to act before its too late. The one problem I feel the directors have is Marchy's contract as I believe it's a 2 year contract but could be wrong just hear say. Depending on whats in his contract like stealth states it will cost us because we would have to pay him out for the remainder of his contract which I think this will be impossible for us as there doesn't seem to be any money about for the club. You can have the best team in the world but if they don't gell, bond or have respect for the coach they are playing for then no matter what he tries he will be fighting a lost cause. For some reason we are not the team that finished last season and this has nothing to do with injuries because I believe that the players we have had in the team are good enough to have won some of the games we have played. The one player I can't wait to have back is Mossy I feel we are missing him.

How long do we leave it because we know from experience how hard it is once you get cemented to the bottom of the table. Looking at our next fixtures coming up I just aren't confident of a win which are leigh at home, fev away, york at home, dewsburry away, barrow at home and hunslet away. Now no disrespect to any one team but normal circumstances I would have been confident we would win 3/4 of these games but not now. I'm not even confident of a bonus point in 3 of these. Then you have to look at the other teams that are all going to be battling around the bottom end of the table which I think will be Barrow, Hunslet, Workington, York, Swinton and us and I wouldn't like to be the team thats battling it out of the bottom 2 spots come the end of the season. The longer these results continue for us the harder its going to be for our lads to have something to grip on to to lift their spirits and confidence because I think we are in for one hell of an hiding against fev and possibly leigh which is going to hurt. I really don't think we have time to wait for players to come back from injury and to be honest I don't think they will make a difference because Marchy just isn't a leader. One thing that is really getting on my nerves and to some your going to think its picky but for me it says a lot and that is if we cast our memory back to when JD was here, everytime we made mistakes, a soft try went in or things wasn't going our way you always saw him wether it was during play or stood behind the sticks pointing, clapping his hands, shouting, hands on his hips, shaking his head and what ever else it took to get the team organised and fired up. When I watch our team now there is not one person especially Marchy that is doing any of this now and this is where the leader is missing. These qualities you can't be taught and you don't just pick them up I think this sort of person is born with these qualities. You are either a leader or a follower and for me Marchy is a follower and will make a good assistant coach.

Unfortunately for me its the end of the road now for Paul March yes he is a nice guy and seems to be a genuine guy too but we can't keep backing him because of this, Coaching is all about results and Paul will know this I'm sure and maybe he might save the directors a job and hold his hands up and say he's in too deep and walk.

As I have said, last night was my first league game this season, apart from Fax on Boxing Day. I have seen Micky's video's and whilst I have not viewed all the games, I feel I have a decent take on the game and this can form my basis for critique.

I accept we have Moss, Killer and Rawlings out but in all honesty does that excuse the level of performance? Jones has played at International level for Wales at full back, we have a Super League prop and second row. Emmit for Rollo is a fair swap and some may argue is better than like for like. Emmitt wasn't great last night, but who was?

Putting the absentees to one side, the aspect that have made me support a change was the application on the field. There is no cohesion and whilst injuries will have their say, you have to take the rough with the smooth. The team looks flat and some of the moves are so readable it makes defending them easy. In attack we were woeful.

Some may say this was a bad day at the office, but how many is that now this season?

With the absentees in the team, would this have made any difference? I'm sorry I don't think so. Marchy is unable to get the best out of what he has got and a change is required sooner rather than later.

I'm sorry folks, whilst I accept and applaud those who say give him time, do we really have time to play with? I'm not a fan of knee jerking, but don't like what I am seeing on the pitch.

No,time is not on our side at all , I respect everyones views but we do not have time to mess
about , another 4 or 5 games when everyone is back from injury may just be
too late.
I reiterate, the ' league of doom ' is not an option.
