Quote: Bryce "Congrats to the Cougars! It was a top effort from all your fans that made the effort to come down, it made for a really good atmosphere.
I do think our try should have stood, then again, who's to say you lot wouldn't have gone up the other end and put another 20 points on the score board. The ref had some odd calls (both ways) but you can't do anything about that!!!
I thought both teams were evry evenly matched and the Cougars took their chance right at the end with that penalty. BTW, what was going on with your kicking?!
It was a top game to watch, and a good advert for CC1.
I think the Lions will come out victorious as champions but I wish you all the best in the play-offs and beyond.'"
A good post. Thanks, Bryce. You're right it was a very evenly matched game and a great advert for CC1. There was a bit of sour grapes at the end with comments about us staying in CC1 for another year, met by retorts about us at least having our own stadium but, from my own point of view, I was happy to have seen such a great game between our two sides (as the last one was), and I was overjoyed of course that we came out on top - just. I wish the Lions all the best and sincerely hope that the Cougars will be able to play them in their own stadium, in Swinton, before too long.
Aside from, as usual, being good at putting themselves under pressure sometimes through silly errors, I thought the Cougars were fantastic to a man last night. You could see they didn't want to be beaten and that determination paid off. A word about the Cougar fans - AWESOME. How many were there of us? About 150 'appen? But what a racket under that covered side in the second half. The lad with the drum - you did an excellent job! It was a joy to be there. It looks like the play-offs for us but, never mind, that's the way our cookie has crumbled. Come on you COUGARS!
