Well, whatever, I hope Scott stays. Reliable in the tackle, never-say-die, (some dodgy offloads though!)

No it isn't. Posting things that...(in a nutshell)

a) aren't true &
b) tend towards harming a persons reputation

IS Libel.

I haven't seen anything on the original post that fulfills either criteria.

a) The original post, which is on the Halifax forum BTW, specifically stated Halifax had signed Scott Law from us for an undisclosed fee. We've since had conformation from a Keighley official that this was not true.
b) The rumour was put to bed about 4 hours after being posted so the damage to any reputations was minimal. However, it did queston Scott's loyalty to Keighley by insinuating he'd signed to another club. It did in a roundabout way question our board's integrity when they've committed to keeping the squad together but supposedly sold our player of the year to Fax.

As I said, it's technically libel. Not on a grand devastating scale worthy of high court writs etc. I don't even think was done maliciously, just someone who neglected to check their facts were right before posting it.
