Quote: vikings 4 ever "I think the problem today was the difference in size. We ourselves have been bullied by teams in this division in the past, but this year we seem to have learned our lesson and built a side around a big pack. Even the players we had out wide today were big - both centres and both wingers were all over 6ft and 3 out of the 4 probably weighing over about 15 stone.
I had read that a lot of Keighley's wins have come off the back of being very physical and basically bullying the opposition. Maybe the reason why Keighley looked so off the pace was purely due to the fact that they found it hard to play the way they normally do and possibly didn't have a plan B?
I think if Keighley are to compete this year, they're either going to have to find a different way to play or they need some reinforcements in the middle of the park. Credit to Keighley for keeping going, but for their sake, I hope that a lot of the sides with big packs, dont just blow them off the park early on in games.'"
Pretty fair comments. Beaten by a bigger, faster, better side.
Now it depends if we can learn from this and if we are capable of doing anything about it at this level.
It will be interesting to see how Widnes go this year, they were hot against us but they were not without weaknesses in the few times that we had them on the backfoot. We could not sustain pressure but I am sure Barrow and Halifax will.
It will be an "interesting" season
