| Hands up, who has heard of Liverpool's new signing?
Oussama Ossaidi from Heerenveen.

Minimal risk involved in a player for that much, I bet his wages are quite small as well. If we get little reward from signing him, whatever, no biggie, but if he does OK then he's an instant winner. Never heard of him and haven't read any opinion on him, which usually doesn't bode well.

Is Rodgers in charge of signings now? He's not made many mistakes in his career so far, but I guess there is a difference between a canny signing for Swansea and Liverpool.

| What do we think about this new Under 21 Premier League idea? What are the groupings based on? Random selection, quality of youth players produced or quality of facilities?
Group 1:
Arsenal, Blackburn, Bolton, Everton, Norwich, Reading, West Brom, West Ham
Group 2:
Aston Villa, Man United, Newcastle, Southampton, Stoke, Sunderland, Tottenham
Group 3:
Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Liverpool, Man City, Middlesborough, Wolves
Teams play each other home and away then the top 3 from groups 1 and 2 and the top 2 from group 3 go into an Elite League for the second half of the season, the others falling into a qualification group 1 and 2 depending on where they finished. Three semi finalists then come from the Elite League and the final place comes from the winner of a play off between qualification group 2 and 3.
There is then a Grand Final for the Under 21 Premier League.
Interesting, very, very interesting. Is this perhaps a test bed for having a GF in the Premier League?

A quick scurry over the net. Direct, fast, tricky winger who can use both feet and play on the left or the right. Was apparantley all set to join Ajax yesterday but couldn't agree terms. At £3M I'd gladly take him.

There's a world of difference, but we can afford to 'trial' a player for that much. Use him off the bench, if he makes a positive impact, start him a few times, see how he does in training, etc.. There's little to lose when buying a player for £3m when you compare that to some of the recent expenditure over the past few seasons.
I honestly have no clue who is behind signings.

| Assaidi is a terrific little player. Even better getting him for Aissati money.

| Quote: Wollyhood "I agree with you with regarding his injuries and I think United will get four more years of high level play. I believe it represent's great value at the cost for a world classs talent, who is currently the best striker in the english league.
Below are a list of fee's for current premier league striker's over the past few years.
Robin van persie £24,000,000
Wayne Rooney £28,000,000
Kun Aguero £38,000,000
Fernando Torres £50,000,000
Luis Suarez £22,7000,000
Andrew Carroll £35,000,000
Nikica Jelavic £6,000,000
The only player's in that list who I think are better value are Wayne Rooney, Luis Suarez and Nikica Jelavic. Suarez and Rooney due to their age and potential and Jelavic due to his price tag. It give's Man United two world class talents and with Nemanja Vidic, Darren Fletcher, Kagawa, Nick Powell and now Robin van persie added to the squad form last year there is alot more depth.'"
Maybe it's just me, but I'm not a big fan of signing established players. They often lack versatility, they begin to lose their pace (if they have any) and they offer very little in terms of future sales. If you aren't dependent on future sales then it's fine, but I was thinking more the versatility/fitting in part. Fergie obviously has the eye and if he thinks he'll fit then it's great, I'm just not a fan of seeing a team sign an established striker (especially if they already have one) that's thrived at being 'the man' and getting him to fit into a team. Although Rooney is more than capable of playing off RvP, it should be interesting to see how often they play together.
Still think you need a midfielder like.

Quote: Catalancs "Been linked with us relentlessly for almost a year. Most of the original interest was deemed to be Comolli-driven. Not sure if it ended there but his agent seems to be doing overtime with the gossip columns. Wouldn't believe anything until he's stood outside Melwood.'"
As I said the other day, I think our interest ended after Comolli.
