Pay over the odds for somebody and then not win?

| Beckett and Buchholz were immense against "them".
Can Lester finish the job tonight? Also come back to 2-2-1 now, looking good for 3-2-1.

| Wow, our bats have heated up a little! Over .500 and .5 behind the Yankees, getting there!

| Showdown in the Bronx the best three days. Gutted Colon and CC aren't scheduled to pitch though. Garcia v Lester tonight.

| Our pitching is getting found out. Although you haven't had our 1 and 2 starters yet.

| Nationa League is a breeze. No wonder everybody wants to pitch there. No Martin, A-Rod and Teixera...no problem.

Yeah, our 8th string pitcher was a bit out of sorts. Still won the series. They also had to have mystery postopnement so Cueto could have an extra day.

| We're struggling a bit with the bat at the moment which is bizarre because we're still up there with runs scored and have had pretty good pitching as well recently. I think we were even leading the lead with consecutive quality starts or something similar anyway (amazing considering that barring Arroyo, the rotation has been chopped and changed with injuries even if Cueto has been brilliant since he's come back). Before last night I think it was something like ten runs over the previous five or six games which isn't good enough. Got a tough schedule as well leading up to the All Star break and just after it. If we're not more than five games back by the end of that we're in with a shout unless one of the others catches fire.

| Two games back of the Sox, not bad considering how many players we have had out injured. Need to improve our record against them. Me and McClennan are fantasy legends.

| Even more incredible on the fantasy front is that I've currently got McCann, Jurgens and Baker on the DL with both Weaver and Molina (my backup catcher) suspended lol. My pitching has been superb during the past month.
As for the Reds it's looking like we're out it unless we pull off a miracle month. Don't know what's happened other than clutch hitting. Our batting is explosive when it hits (2nd in NL in runs scored despite being 6th in BA) but with 2 out runners in scoring position we're batting .202 which is 11th in the league. I think that probably tells a tale alongside the disruption to our starting rotation. Dropped too many games against teams we should have won (swept by a maudling Mets in the middle of taking two of three from the Braves and a sweep of the Giants, also lost series at the Astros and Cubs right after that sweep) and too many at home (1-5 at home to Pirates).

| Can anyone see past a Phillies / Red Sox World Series?
If the Phils don't win the lot this year on the back of an incredible pitching rotation, where Roy Oswalt might not even pitch in the post season, I'd be extremely disappointed.
The addition of Pence is massive as Francisco and Brown have been disappointing and looks a much more shrewd free agent signing than the high profile Beltran deal the Giants made.
