| The Van Persie deal must be heavily staggered. Who pays £24 million for someone with one year on a contract?

Rather pay £24m for someone with 1 year left than pay £35m for a lump of wood with +1 year.
I guess Citeh didn't want him then. I hope they're ''RVP'ing'' themselves with fear now
i know it was awful..

City clearly did want him, Mancini made that very clear. Reading between the lines it seems Van Persie has been set on a move to United for a good while, City's early admission of defeat made that clear.
I think we'll see more movement this window too. With RVP and Rooney, is there any room for Hernandez or Welbeck at United? Mancini seems frustrated by City's lack of progress so I think they will tie up Agger and Sinclair.
Arsenal having some spare cash and no doubt major pressure to spend it from the fans worries me too. I just hope they don't come calling for Baines, Jagielka or Fellaini.

With Owen gone and Berbatov going, I'd reckon that both Welbeck and Hernandez will see plenty of action.

| The best thing about the van Persie deal is seeing Piers Morgan losing it on twitter.
Massive risk from United, but the rewards are potentially huge. If RVP carries on like last season then United have just improved themselves massively. But if last season was just a freakishly good season that won't be repeated then it could harm them enormously. It's a risk Citeh could have taken without thinking, but United won't be able to shrug it off if he goes back to his sicknote past.

| Surprised I've not seen any Liverpool fans moaning and wondering why they didn't go for RVP. They are the biggest and best family club and have the best fans in the world after all.....

City wanted him as a replacement for Tevez. But Van Persie has made it fairly clear that he wasn't interested and it does appear that Tevez is reasonably settled (for the time being). So probably not worth pushing too hard for Van Persie who brings his own risks.
Having signed Van Persie and Kagawa and with Vidic, Fletcher and Cleverley fit, United should be at least 6 points better compared to last season. The question is whether they over achieved in picking up 89 points last season or are genuinely a team capable of matching Chelsea's PL points record?

Which is worrying for the teams chasing the title. When Tevez is on form he's nigh-on unplayable

| Not sure what to think of United signing RvP. It feels a little 'Berbatov', if you will. Basically, Fergie's gone for an established striker that he clearly rates when he'd probably be better looking for somebody for Rooney to work with/play off. RvP is a good player but I'm not sure if he's the right player. Watching him for Arsenal last year was a little uneasy at times, he done some brilliant things but he looked so selfish at times. He's clearly a good player and he'll give them at least two seasons of high level play, but will his injuries come back? Will Fergie play a 4-4-2?
I really thought Fergie was looking for 'value' in the market? I guess the owners/Fergie see it as more important to return to winning ways, which is understandable.

47600_1370068151.jpg The Autumn Wind is a pirate
Blustering in from sea,
With a rollocking song, he sweeps along,
Swaggering boisterously.
His face is weather beaten.
He wears a hooded sash,
With a silver hat about his head,
And a bristling black mustache.
He growls as he storms the country,
A villain big and bold.
And the trees all shake and quiver and quake,
As he robs them of their gold.
The Autumn Wind is a raider,
Pillaging just for fun.
He'll knock you 'round and upside down,
And laugh when he's conquered and won.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47600.jpg |

I agree with you with regarding his injuries and I think United will get four more years of high level play. I believe it represent's great value at the cost for a world classs talent, who is currently the best striker in the english league.
Below are a list of fee's for current premier league striker's over the past few years.
Robin van persie £24,000,000
Wayne Rooney £28,000,000
Kun Aguero £38,000,000
Fernando Torres £50,000,000
Luis Suarez £22,7000,000
Andrew Carroll £35,000,000
Nikica Jelavic £6,000,000
The only player's in that list who I think are better value are Wayne Rooney, Luis Suarez and Nikica Jelavic. Suarez and Rooney due to their age and potential and Jelavic due to his price tag. It give's Man United two world class talents and with Nemanja Vidic, Darren Fletcher, Kagawa, Nick Powell and now Robin van persie added to the squad form last year there is alot more depth.

| Breaking: RVP fails medical at Old Trafford due to a back injury caused by carrying Arsenal for 3 years.

| Great signing for United, i'm more interested though in seeing how Arsenal cope without RvP - Not a good time to be a Arsenal fan me thinks.
