Does nobody else think it's strange and rather short-sighted how Madrid have bought two attacking midfielders and are close to siging a forward (Villa) when their biggest problem last year was the defence?

Well yes. But I gather they will be getting Alonso from Liverpool plus a new centre half to replace Cannarvero. |

From what I've heard they want Villa and will try and get Alonso.
They are thinking of bringing Garay back fromRacing and using him to cover the absence of Cannavaro. |

No. Not in the slightest. This is Real Madrid we're talking about!
They've got Garay to come back, unless he's given another season at Racing which rather defeats the point of signing him for £9m 12 months ago.

I agree, although I read today a interview with Cannavaro and he was saying that they need about 5 signings most of them attacking players. |

Could be wrong, but I'd guess Pepe and Garay in centres, Ramos to continue at right back and Marcelinho at left back. |
