Supporters jeered and slow handclapped during a lengthy passage of second-half kicking at Vicarage Road, a reaction Griffiths described as "astonishing".

Maybe they should change the name to Rugby Ping Pong.

| Birmingham Solihull (formerly Pertemps Bees iirc) are facing administration. The second tier side is over £170k in debt, £90k owed to internal revenue and £80k owed to players for the last two month/weeks's wages.
Methinks their operating costs are too high if they pay the players that much.

| Quote: Red Red Robin "That was probably why the southern hemisphere nations wanted the ELV's brought in but were outvoted by the northern hemisphere nations.'"
The ELVs resulted in more kicking (most of it aimless) and more stoppages, ironic given than many on here declared it trying to be more like RL. So make you own conclusions about that.
Argentina were against the ELVs, RSA did not mind whether they used ELVs or or the previous set of rules as long as they had a consistent ruleset, AUs. and NZ only wanted certain rules. NH hemisphere Unions voted for the the ELVs (particularly England and France) just not the same same ones that Aus. and NZ.
The ELVs were thrown out because there was little evidence they improved anything, unless you consider defending team regularly running back 10m due to the large number of short arm penalties.

| International Olympic leaders selected golf and rugby today for proposed inclusion in the 2016 Summer Games, rejecting bids from baseball, softball and three other sports.

Golf!
Wonder if rugby league players will be included in the olympic rugby.

I doubt any rugby league coaches would be happy if they did as the Olympics take place during the season.
I've always thought the Olympics should be the pinnacle of your sport. Tennis, basketball and football are three sports which shouldn't be there.
A number of leading golfers have already said they wouldn't take part if it disrupted their preparation for an important tournament. Isn't the PGA Championship in August?
It's going to be a joke with the leading golfers absent.

Another 93 today. They did manage a penalty though.
Chris Ashton got two tries for Northampton. Result of the day has to be Treviso 9 Perpignan 8. Goosen kicked all Treviso's points. I'm sure his first name is Giuseppe or Dino. Shame the crowd was so low. Only 2,000 turning up.
Average crowd of 1,050 in the European challenge cup today.

| rlGreat article in the Guardian by Dara O'Briainrl
'I'll be left trying to explain with just an exasperated look that rugby in Dublin is the preserve of the attendees of a number of well-to-do schools and for those of us from the slightly grimier schools who played gaelic football or hurling or football, it wasn't our party and we had to leave it to the moneyed classes to attend their internationals and pat themselves on the back...
'The last big match I attended was Ireland against France in the 2007 World Cup and a peculiar thing kept happening. When a foul was called the entire stadium would turn to the big screens for a replay and, along with the recap, an explanation of the exact nature of the offence would flash up as a bilingual subtitle...
'This was an innovation that managed to be both helpful and damning. Every time a technical brouhaha would occur, 80,000 people would crane upwards, read the screen and give a minor ah of enlightenment. Maybe this is a sport with too many rules...'
