| Quote: Dita's Slot Meter "As an Evertonian, I struggle to see the logic....Rodwell isn't even established at Everton as a first team regular (admittedly, mainly because of injuries), so I fail to see how he'd even get close to a game at City.
Mind you, with talk of United and Chelsea also being interested, if an auction was to ensue, I'd be made up to see him go if we got £15m for him and it meant we could hang onto Baines.'"
I think its one of those cases of a manager retaining an interest in a player that does well against his team. Rodwell had a sparkling cameo against us a couple of years ago and has obviously stayed in Mancini's thoughts. Barry's not going to be around forever, De Jong seems a bit unsettled, so as long as Rodwell's injury problems aren't long term I think he's a decent punt for the future.

| City have such quality that they've always been able to accommodate some poor players by comparison without losing out. Barry is a terrible player, as is Milner, when compared to Silva, Toure, Agueruo, Kompany and co. City could better those players with consummate ease. But I guess there is something in the homegrown quota rules that means that they have to retain some of those players. Shows how stupid it is though that City would spend £12m to acquire that rather than just promoting one of their own academy players.

Been linked with us relentlessly for almost a year. Most of the original interest was deemed to be Comolli-driven. Not sure if it ended there but his agent seems to be doing overtime with the gossip columns. Wouldn't believe anything until he's stood outside Melwood.

Don't think Rodgers is interested. Think our interest in him ended when Kenny was sacked. More chance of seeing Sahin here than Ramirez, IMO.

The thing with Liverpool now is that every transfer fee has to be seen through the prism of Andy Carroll. And on that basis, £14m looks cheap.

| Has anyone seen today's column by Rob Beasley in The Sun today? Seems to have decided every foul in a match is a sign that footballers are overpaid and pampered and it's a disgrace every time there's a yellow card. I guess he'll no longer be commenting on football and be reporting on the heptathlon, 10m diving and 10000 meters to further his career?!

No, its got to be the Women's shot put and badminton doubles. I'm not much of a Talksport listener but apparently he got some awful stick over the article yesterday and ended up inviting the interviewer to a bout of fisticuffs.

| There is a point here. The Olympics and the way it was covered by the BBC meant you got to see the people as well as the public face of the athletes. We saw them cry, bleed, feint and give their all for their sport. And these were often people who got little or no funding and had to work to support their sporting endevours. It does sharply focus the mind on just how spoilt footballers have been allowed to become and how cynical the sport is now. Footballers are overpaid (Clubs don't make a profit so there is no justification at all to say they deserve the wages they get) and their attitude, on the whole, is awful, like spoilt children with a massively overinflated sense of self importance.
There is something of a public backlash against football at the moment off the back of the Olympics. I'm sure it'll soon be forgotten, but the Premier League could do with remembering it's a sport primarily and focus on the goals and the entertainment rather than the money and lets have less of the Van Persie money whoring auction, less of the Suarez v Evra nonsense, less of the Joey Barton's, less of the rolling round on the floor and feigning injury and more effort, commitment and bring a bit of dignity back to the sport.

Does he play on the right? I wouldn't have thought we would have wanted to move Stevie Pienaar from the left.
It'll have to be a loan move I take it, as Everton would never be able to meet the wages he's on at City?

a ridiculous amount - decent player though but just didn't fit in at WHL
good business by Levy and good luck to him at Goodison
