| I just had a bet on Highland Glen in the 4:00 at Goodwood, but it didn't even get in the pen.
Will I get my money back?

| Quote: Carneys Pint "Today's best bet is 11/10 about Ghanaati to beat Rip Van Winkle in a match bet in the Sussex Stakes today. Ghanaati is putting up immense times in winning this season - she's 2/2 including a course record (faster than the colts, including Rip's stablemate Mastercraftsman) at Ascot last time out. She'll love the ground out there today and is 11/10 to beat a horse who's run his last three races at 8f, 12f and 10f and hasn't won in over a year!!
Also Mata Kerajang in the 2yo race at 2
Good job i wasn't Online to see that one, Although i'll give you the benefit of the doubt for the (14/1) 2nd...

| Billy Sharpe at 66/1 (The Tote) to be top Championship scorer is far too big and when he gets a move expect that price to fall dramatically.

|
| Caracciola e/w bet to nothing at 12/1 tomorrow in what looks a very poor renewal of the Goodwood Cup.

Hope you're on at that price if you're having a bet. Can't see bigger than 8/1 now.

| Certainly as game as they come and should definitely give you a good run for your money.
Just wonder what, if any impact it will have on the horse switching stables (or has it?) Something that's been confusing me a bit is what happens to the horses when the trainer is banned for a certain amount of time.
The two examples being the trainer of this horse Nicky Henderson and it being shown as trained by Barry Hills now and all of Karl Burke's horses which are now showing under Alan Jarvis. It's one thing I've always wondered about.
Anyway good to see Rip Van Winkle realising his potential today and lining my pockets in the process.

Certainly is, theres also question marks over the others in terms of distance ala 1st string for godolphin.
Well horses are regularly switched to different stables, obv different training methods, surroundings, ability of the trainers can perk and reinjuvanate the horse somewhat.
Re, Henderson and Burke id suggest that the majority are still being trained by their respective trainers IIRC henderson has 100+ NH horses all of which cant be relocated, Burke has a mass of good 2yr olds, So there trained by henderson and burke then picked up by jarvis and hills horse box the lads of the individual horses will travel with the horse, but the saddling of the horse etc will be done by hills etc.
Only a guess, but id imagine its pretty right

| It's certainly a tricky one, more so as far as Karl Burke is concerned I reckon. Henderson doesn't usually have many runners this time of year anyway, probably half a dozen at most so his ban should be just about up at the time he would normally start sending his early ones out, so I reckon he will still be doing all the work with them but unable to enter any into NH races, not sure with this one on the flat or any of Burke's?
Find it strange sometimes what they're down as in the papers etc, cos a mate of mine has shares in a horse and it's trained by Vince Smith, but appears in the papers and on the racecards etc, as being trained by Hugh Collingridge?
Anyway, Mirrored is the main bet for me tomorrow in the opener at Goodwood, thought Ryan gave it too much to do last time and it picked up really well in the closing stages but couldn't get close to the front two, the extra furlong tomorrow should be ideal and hopefully the main man can bring it home.
Also gonna have small interests in Kingsgate Native and Starfala in the 2.45 and 4.00 at Goodwood.

Caracciola has been transferred to the Hills yard for the duration of Henderson's ban. Alan Jarvis is Karl Burke's father-in-law

| Bit down for the day, but not that much damage with Kingsgate Native doing the business foe me at 7's.
Think I've picked an absolute diamond out tomorrow, widely available at a monster 25/1 Docofthebay has a lot going for it in the 3.25.
Sure, there's some genuine improving younger horses in there, but Docofthebay is steadily slipping back to a winning mark having not won since this meeting 2 years ago. Has course form, no problem with the distance or the ground, has run well at this time of year before, has run well in big field handicaps before and possibly the most eyecatching thing is the booking of Ryan Moore in the sadlle. Moore has ridden this horse three times before (not since 2007 though) gaining two seconds and a win.
Well worth a few quid at 25's Id say.
