| probably, but no time soon, not since they've dropped teh chosen one angle, which really wasn't as utilized as it could have been, what with vince never showing up on smackdown, ever.

That gimmick would have flown better if he'd been teamed up with a manager who had a direct line to vince, which could have been established in the first few weeks following his début. But now, he's sort of floundering in the mid card.
I wouldn't be surprised if he got future endeavour'd in the near future

| Floundering in the midcard? He was in a #1 contender match and the PPV and has been semi-feuding with Edge for a few weeks now.
Arguably the #2 heel on Smackdown atm.

And how did that #1 contender match go? Did he win?
And the semi-feuding with Edge, hows that gone? Managed a win, or even got the upper hand on Edge?

| I'm not a fan of the recent burial of Sheamus I have to say. I thought he's done pretty well considering the ludicrously fast push. I think he would make an excellent face over time.

WWE are so cut-throat these days it's untrue. Absolutely no patience at all - "let's push this guy to the moon straightaway, if he fails we'll just bin him!" Appauling attitude, guys like Rock and Austin needed time to develop and get over, they'd have both been released in this day and age, does my head in.

TBH, if the WWE had this attitude when Rock and Austin were coming through, they'd have been future endevour'd before you got near a 3:16 or people's champ.
Both guys first entry in wwe were not exactly huge, rocky maivia and the ring master. not in line for gimmick of the year any time soon

| no point having someone who can add variety if he can't work with 98% of the existing roster. mexican/lucha libre is structured completely different to american (and specificly WWE) style.
on teh austiin point, was it not about two years or so after winning the king of the ring that he actually won the world title? that was the beginning of his build up.

But that's the problem with modern wrestling - years ago guys would work all over the world getting experience and learning different styles so that they could work with anyone, e.g. Daniel Bryan has worked in the UK, Japan, US etc. He could probably have a good match with any pro wrestler in the world. To me it's insane that they try to wipe out originality.
Austin debuted in 1995 in WWF but didn't win the main belt till 98, whereas these days it's so rushed. Whatever happened to a guy going from tag title, to Intercontinental, to Heavyweight belt spread out over many years to build their reputation and respect level with the fans (e.g. Bret Hart or Shawn Michaels years ago). If you stick the main belt on a guy like Sheamus but then take it off him, anything after that is surely a downward path because you reached the top so damn fast.

Yeah, the problem with pushing a guy so hard so fast is the chase is always better then the catch, so if they reach the top quickly where do they go after that? Okay there are exceptions (e.g. it never hurt Taker winning the WWF title as his first belt and only a year after his debut), but IMO the slow-build approach is usually the best way. I remember The Rock getting screwed constantly by the McMahon Helmsley Faction in 2000 with HHH always hanging onto the belt. This just built the tension and excitement so that when Rock finally beat him it was amazing, it's how you build the drama. Just sticking belts on guys to get them over is silly IMO, e.g. I love the Del Rio character, but if I was booking he wouldn't be getting a Heavyweight title shot till at least this time next year.

| My memory must be a little different.
Austin, Jericho & the dudleys came in with big reps and had a fan base when they came in. Rock (alright the gimmick was e with the funny blue pants) but was fast tracked to the IC belt and off the back of that got a push through the NOD.
Austin was bigged up to hell and came in with Ted Dibiase as manager. He had some fantastic matches on the lower card with Savio Vega before getting a push over Yokozuna where they destroyed the ring and the surrounding area.
Jericho exploded on Raw with the Raw is Jericho shpeel interupting Taker v Big Show in the opening segment of his first show.
I wasn't a fan of how Shamus was fast tracked as he couldn't handle it, and I'm equally not a fan of how he's buried. Some talent need to learn to sell to the audience and he's one, so was Sean Michaels & Bret Hart. It did them no harm. The likes of Taker, Warrior, Punk, Angle, Pillman are one off's that don't.
