I respect Ghanaati, she looks a nice filly and has won nicely the last twice, but a) I can't and won't back Richard Hills and b) I think the colts this year are far stronger than the fillies.

That leads me to Rip Van Winkle not the most straight forward of horses but looks a solid bet to me even though 6/4 is a bit skinny. I can see them going a good gallop and I think that will play right into Johnny Murtagh's hands.

He ran his best race last time against the brilliant Sea The Stars and was going extremely well a couple out only to be done by a great horse, not to mention another top class animal Conduit some 4/5 lengths further back. I know that was maybe a bit short for Conduit but that is still the best form in the book by some distance IMO and I don't see the drop to a mile any problem at all.

A West Ham win against Tottenham tomorrow looks good to me. Tottenham have no fit Centre Backs and i think Carlton Cole will have a field day. On SkyBet they are 15/8, lump on is my advice!

Not sure about West Ham but Partizan Belgrade are a team who can do good things this season in the Champions League and at 6/4 are crying out to be backed to win at APOEL Nicosia.

Today's best bet is 11/10 about Ghanaati to beat Rip Van Winkle in a match bet in the Sussex Stakes today. Ghanaati is putting up immense times in winning this season - she's 2/2 including a course record (faster than the colts, including Rip's stablemate Mastercraftsman) at Ascot last time out. She'll love the ground out there today and is 11/10 to beat a horse who's run his last three races at 8f, 12f and 10f and hasn't won in over a year!!

Also Mata Kerajang in the 2yo race at 2:45 - great price at 12/1.
