I agree, it was a disappointing result, but as for being a backward step??....His marketability won't have suffered after that fight, if anything it has increased because guys like Bradley, who were afraid to meet Khan, will now be more willing after seeing his weaknesses exposed.
As for Ward/Froch....I'd love to see Carl do it, but think Ward will beat him on points....Kessler is the form line to go on and it is advantage Ward on that one....Can see it being similar to his clash with Dirrell, only this time he won't have the hometown advantage, verdict wise.

| I thought Khan might have scraped a draw but I don't think he can complain that much about the victory. The ref warned him about pushing away which is the same as what happened in the Benn-McClellan fight were Benn got a couple of warnings for the same thing.
When Petersen got in close Khan didn't really have an answer for it and too often his head was pretty static which made him easy to hit. Still these kind of losses happen and if he'd kept to using his jab and fighting at range or with combinations he would have won. Hopefully it'll stop all that silly talk of taking on Mayweather.

| The referreeing was questionable, no doubt about it and those 2 point deducations may well have cost Khan the fight in the end, but Khan should've won this comfortably.
Khan was his own worst enemy as he totally went away from all the good things he was doing early on. In the opening 3 rounds he was fighting at range, using the jab, his speed and foot movement to out point Peterson early in the fight. He was looking really good in the opening three rounds and then he allowed Peterson back into it by being drawn into a brawl. He had no defence when on the ropes and when Peterson had him up close and in the pocket. Khan's lack of head movement and urgency to move away from the ropes at times was suicidal, I couldn't believe those tactics. Khan wasn't smart enough at times last night and whilst he may have a case to say he was hard done to with the judges and ref, at the end of the day he cost himself this fight by fighting a poor fight tactically in some of the rounds IMO.
When Khan stuck to the jab, quick combs using his in and out style, Peterson couldn't get near him. If / when they fight again, Khan has to do that and he'll win fairly comfortably.

Couldn't agree more - the incessant need to call out Mayweather now makes Khan look a bit of a laughing stock. He can come back and Bradley is a reachable fight but to badger on about being cheated will not do him any favours with the American public.
Khan allowed Peterson to be far too aggressive after the 1st Round and he was trying to push and hold on, which the Referee warned and warned about. No complaints.

| I had Peterson 1 round up at the end so the points deductions did probably cost him the fight, but to be honest it shouldn't've been so close. Khan is still making some of the same mistakes he's been making his whole career. He still cannot fight on the inside, he moves in straight lines with zero head movement. His biggest problem is he seems to really struggle with pressure fighters. He doesn't to be able to keep his opponent off him, he just backs up to the ropes and then seems to have no idea how to get away.
Its something I've noticed with a few of Roach's fighters they don't seem to be able to think for themselves and adjust to what the opponent is doing and change their plan accordingly. This is something Mayweather is very very good at. Hopfully this loss will be a wake up call for Khan. He may someday be able to fight the likes of Mayweather, but he's still got so many things to work before he should even be mentioned in the same breath as Mayweather.
Fair play to Peterson though. He fought how I think a challenger should fight for a world title, he went in there and tried to take it from him and really bullied Khan at times. Seems like a good bloke aswell.

Have to be careful Chisora doesn't stand on Haye's toe in there if it's going to be so crowded, don't want to listen to another week of him whining like a beyotch after a Klitschko shows him up.

| Will he? He will get him head jabbed off!
Can anyone see a similar outcome of Froch Ward to that of Hatton Mayweather. I am a HUGE fan of Froch and have been ever since the days he used to fight on the BBC. I love his unorthodox style and his desire to get in there and make it a war. But Ward is such a slick boxer, perhaps not as slick as Dirrell but close, and Dirrell made him look pedestrian IMO. Froch is a world class fighter and I don't see him going over like Hatton did, I just think he'll get outboxed for most of the fight.
The key punch for Froch IMO is that sneaky right uppercut that he nearly to Brian Magee's head off with all those years ago. That is a very hard shot to see coming and if he catches Ward on the chin with one of those, with enough torque behind it, he may be able to jump on him and stop him. I don't see him winning a decision.

Does Ward hit as hard as Mayweather though? I think Ward will win on points but I can't see him stopping Froch. He's also fast but as fast as Dirrell? Don't think so (not sure anyone is). I actually think Ward try and beat Froch on the inside. Carl isn't great on the inside and Ward is very good in this area. One thing to factor in is Ward has been down a couple of times in the past and has question marks about his chin.

| also cant see him stopping froch, froch has a great chin only been down once in his career v jermaine taylor....and he took some big shots off pascal.
if ward has a weak chin then froch will find him out...think froch has the master plan for this fight
come on froch!! deserves it
khan/pac man faster than dirrell?
