Quote Ian [77="Ian [77"Wind your neck in.
Firstly, no one hates Newcastle. Sorry to break this to you, but they've lurched from mediocre to average for the majority of their existence - I doubt anyone without a geographical reason gives that much of a sh*t about them. They get talked about on here because they are a great source of comedy.
Secondly, Ashley has made plenty of mistakes and I never suggested he didn't. Appointing Keegan was a huge mistake. Then again, most Newcastle fans won't agree with that because Keegan is one of the Geordie faithful's messiahs. So they don't criticise him for that. No, they wait until Keegan bottles it (again) and then blame Ashley for that.
Thirdly, if Newcastle get relegated, it will be Ashley's fault. If Newcastle's stay up, it will be Shearer's. The reality is, with around a fifth of the season to go, they'll both be to blame, whatever happens. But the only person to blame will be Ashley, and the only person who'll get credit will be 'Wor Al' you know it, and I know it. And if you're honest, you'll admit that that approach is complete bollox.'"
So on Wednesday when England had a big World Cup qualifier, what was allover the back page of the papers, the story about Shearer and Newcastle, not bad for a 'small club' that no one gives a sh*t about
Appointing Keegan wasnt a mistake, Allardyce was absolutely awful, Keegan turned the performances around very quickly and we played some decent football. Appointing Keegan, promising him sole charge of the team, transfers, etc... and then getting Dennis Wise to take over some duties, was the mistake.
With all due respect Ian, you clearly have ignored the facts surrounding Keegan's exit, he hasn't bottled it, why should he be lied to and have Dennis Wise dictate to him? ? ? Do you not think it's a suprise that Shearer has come in and Wise has gone? ? ? I.e. "look at the problems he caused when Keegan was in charge, i am not having the same, if you want me to be manager that's fine, but Dennis Wise isn't going to be sticking his nose in".
It has taken Ashley thus far after Kinnear going into hospital to do something about it. This has even involved players going to Ashley and asking for someone to be put in charge, and let Hughton get on with other jobs, not running the team.
If you read back a few pages, i stated that i was unsure whether it was the right time for Shearer to take over. Thing is pal i can assess things to do with Newcastle without wearing Newcastle sunglasses. It is a fact that Ashley has lied, made mistakes and has been tight with his money in terms of transfer funds, and look where it has left us.
