| Great effort from Murray tonight. Unlucky although I thought Sturm had done enough to get the result.

| Can't wait for Tonight's Boxing - going to be a cracking night.
Not really a fan of Chisora but will still watch anyway.
John Murray vs Brandon Rios - Pretty shambolic buildup really - Rios twice failed to make the weight, but this morning managed to get under an agreed weight to actually save the fight. No matter what happens though - Rios has been stripped of the title, and if Murray can win then he is the new Champion. Rios will be very tough to beat, but if Murray can start fast and just generally perform better than he did against Mitchell then he could be in with a shot.
Miguel Cotto vs Antonio Margarito - Boxing has waited so long for this fight. Did he cheat against Cotto the first time? We may never know for certain and I will always believe he did and that's why I'll be supporting Cotto tonight. Then again the way Margarito just simply refused to give in against Manny Pacquiao was pretty impressive. I predict a close fight which could become a classic if both guys open up a bit. So tough to split - think it will go the distance and Cotto to take it.

| Well I've never really rated Chisora but I did think he really deserved to win that fight tonight! Helenius was awful in my view, looked amateurish conditioning wise and Chisora was normally always on the front foot. Not helped either by the Referee who was just desperate to get in the way.
A great fight - can't really remember a better Heavyweight fight in the last year or two, and Chisora will probably get another shot at him.

| So Miguel Cotto does indeed get his revenge - and what a fight it was with so many punches thrown from both boxers. The fight seemed destined to be Cotto's when Margarito's eye was cut in the 3rd, and after that especially Cotto was able to pick him off at will. The Doctor perhaps stopped the fight a round to early IMO as Margarito wasn't receiving particularly brutal punishment yet, but it was pretty irrelevant anyway.
I had Cotto leading 88 - 83 at the end of the 9th and the two which I gave to Margarito were very marginal also. Overall it was great to see Miguel back to near his best, looking in great shape and moving very well. Chavez Jnr seems next on his agenda.
Murray vs Rios - Murray started pretty well but from about the 6th onwards he began to take heavy punishment and he was all at sea when the fight was stopped in the 11th. Rios is decent but not as good as he thinks.
All in all a pulsating weekend of Boxing - albeit not good results for the Brits.

| Last night's ITV1 doc "The Fight of Their Lives" re THAT Benn v McClellan fight was EXTREMELY distressing. Not so much for seeing the coverage for the first time since the fateful night, but the horrible "blame game" which ran through the whole episode.
I still have vivid memories of watching it in the Tut'n'Shive Warrington, and thinking WOW, THIS IS AMAZING. Two warriors going toe to toe, and one man winning. The day after, learning that McClellan was in a terrible state, brought the whole sporting world to unite in the prayers for McClellan. Last night's doc left a VERY sour taste in the mouth, with blame and counter blame, almost forgetting McClellan's health issues (although this could be down to editing).
The one plus point coming out of it, was seeing him in a lot better (mental) state, than I'd expected him to be in.

| Been a few good weeks of boxing but the standard of officiating and judging once again leaves a lot to be desired.
I'm surprised Martin Murray got as much as a draw in all honesty, the most disappointing aspect of it for me was that Murray and Hatton almost happily accepted that they had been robbed despite believing they had won the fight. [i'What can you do, we're in Germany?'[/i Rather than raise hell over the verdict they will prefer to rake it in when the inevitable rematch takes place.
Chisora, well that was a blatant robbery but it was a Sauerland promotion, enough said. There might be a way back in for him after the Fury debacle now as Helenius is quite highly rated in this farce of a division.
Given the circumstances John Murray had a good dig but I'm surprised he was even considered for supposed world class company after the Mitchell beating. I thought the fight could have been stopped a couple of rounds earlier by either his corner or the ref, he was walking on to Rios' uppercut in every round. There's a picture of him rlthe morning after the fightrl that should make him seriously consider his future in the sport, it's awful.
I'm going to watch both the Ali/Frazier and Benn/McClennan doco's ion the next couple of days.
Quite like Khan by KO/TKO v Peterson at the weekend too, value is slowly going though.

Khan-Peterson is an interesting match, apart from Bradley its the hardest fight for Khan at light-welter.
Murray just hasn't got the power to fight the way he does. He will give any lightweight in the world a good fight for a few rounds (I thought the fight was pretty close after 5 or 6 rounds). But once his opponent realises he can just walk through him its all over. I'd like to see Mitchell fight Rios I think that would be a good fight and I'd give Mitchell a good chance. Rios isn't that great although I doubt we'll see Rios fight at 135lbs again.

I'm not sure if they happily accepted it because I don't think you can always take what somebody says at face value. There's value in them suggesting he was the better fighter and a re-match is a must. It's all part of the game and has been since its inception. Are you suggesting that he should have won the fight because I didn't really feel he did enough to win. I'm in the camp that says you have to take the crown off the champion in boxing. It's not enough to turn up and snatch it, you have to show that you are the champion. It's the same in the UK where boxers have gotten ropey decisions because they are the homer or the champion. If you're going to win the championship in the champ's own backyard you have to do a bit more than what Murray did last week.
