| Agreed. He may well lose out on millions but money isn't everything. He gets to stay at a very well regarded academic college and get his degree (architectural design) and be "normal" for another year.
He'll still be the number 1 QB next year. Bradford went back and got injured, which is the worst case for Luck, and still went #1.
The NFL will always be there waiting for him, plus with the potential of there being no season next year it is probably a good choice to go back.
Apparently the Phins already offered Gruden $7million but he turned it down.

| To put it into perspective Bill Belichick gets $7.5 million a year which is still a lot obviously but hes been in the NFL years and won everything going numerous times!
Maybe Gruden just wants more cash because he knows they will pay it, it's probably something like " ok John we will give you $7 million, no Im not interested, ok how about $10 million, no, ok how about 20, go on then you have twisted my arm"

| Be gutted if Gruden gets a job. Really enjoyed his input on MNF.

Thats why he's turned down the job, because he enjoys being an commentator.
I don't see the fascination with him, sure he's won a SB, but he isn't a great coach.

| MNF is much better since Gruden took over from Kornheiser,he's enjoying the gig now but I think the coaching bug will get him again in time like it has with Cowher.

| Bit of fun for the playoffs. This will work okay(hopefully). Like a playoffs penalty shootout.
Pick your winners from this week. If one of your teams loses you lose a team.
example.
I will pick.
Ravens
Packers
Colts
Saints
to win. And only the Packers and Saints did then I could only pick winners in the next round in games involving them. So when the Packers play the Eagles next week I could then choose anybody on that game. It's possible all your 1st week teams could lose and you'd be out. Basically, picking the winner gives you the chance to pick a winner in that teams game nxt week? Is that too complicated?

I don't think he is a bad coach. I just don't think he is as good as the amount of jobs he is being linked to. Especially jobs with pretty good teams like Miami and the Cowgirls.
He won the SB with Dungy's team/defence and then completely tanked with Tampa. Although he did some decent things in Oakland.

What if he blows out his knee next year and never plays again?!

| I'm shocked at Luck ot declaring tbh. Has anything been declared on Harbaugh's decision? I thought if he stayed then maybe Luck would too, but with him looking likely to leave I would've put my house on him coming out. A lot can happen in a year, I hope he doesn't regret it as I really like the lad.

Jon Gruden is a great self publicist. He did some good things at Oakland but he also started to build a roster that was heavy with over priced ageing veterans. Since the Superbowl the Raiders have been paying for that.
In Tampa he took Tony Dungy's defense, which reached pretty much its peak and won a Superbowl. After the Superbowl season Gruden went 45-51 with the Bucs and IMHO it was only Monte Kiffin's handling of the defense that got him that many wins.
He is thought of as this great offensive mind that came through under Mike Holmgren/Andy Reid's tutelage, but he is not. Look at the revolving door of QB's that rolled through Tampa on his watch and then hey presto he leaves and they get a franchise QB in Josh Freeman, go figure.
He also alienates too many players with his attitude and has been called a back stabber by many others.
