I've never rated him. He played like a limited forward, he was a terrible midfielder, but he had the knack of popping up and getting a goal, even though if he could pass, they probably wouldn't have needed that goal in the first place. Probably should have played up front more IMO, his poor passing in 'the hole' often hindered the likes of Arteta and Pienaar IMO.

As a blue this is a good move all round. He's past his best, but could still do a job at a lower level. Nice to see him get a decent last payday and a chance for him and his family to and live in the US.

Fairly limited, but very effective in what he did do on the pitch. By all accounts a thoroughly nice bloke as well.

Good luck to him, i know he goes with the best wishes of all Evertonians

Lucas Moura's agent has said his client won't be going to United. Still think United should go for a M'Vila type centre mid, a destroyer. Vidal would be perfect but I can't see him leaving Juve. Tiote as well wouldn't be a bad choice.

I wouldn't disagree too much with that, though 'a terrible midfielder' is a bit harsh....There are certainly a lot worse in the Premier League.

The truth is, whenever the goals dried up, he was exposed as being a bit of a passenger....Technically, he was limited, but he always gave 100%, which is always appreciated by supporters.

Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union. www.squadbuilder.co.uk:1883.jpg

From what I have read, it is the agent spouting as he being cut out of negotiations between the two clubs.

Passes count more than goals now?

You'll be top of the 'possession table' next year.. to go along with that 'table since Christmas 2011' and 'best strike rate of a foreigner in their first season' shiz... eusa_clap.gif

Coming from a bluenose? Didn't you lot follow the "if referees made the right call league"? icon_lol.gif

Who said passes count more than goals? I said if he could pass, his goals wouldn't have been needed as much he'd have been able to set up goals. He was a limited player overall, yet people go on about him as though he's a Premier League great.

Nah, I think you just made the Everton one up.

Kopites pick and chose last year over "if we hadn't dropped all those points too poor sides earlier on in the season we'd be 3rd/4th/5th right now!" or "if all those shots we had that hit the woodwork had gone in we'd be 3rd/ 4th/ 5th right now!"

When are someone's goals not needed?

Nobody has ever claimed Cahill was the complete player but he was very good at the things he could do. Play to your strengths and all that. He was great at scoring against Liverpool that's for sure. Maybe that's why you dismiss his ability so much.

Someone's goals aren't needed when a side is three/four up, that's just cushioning. You're basically agreeing with me as you say he just played to his strengths. He was an attacking midfielder that wasn't very good at a lot of things in attack, he could head and finish inside the box, a bit like a 'fox in the box' if you will, yet he played in the hole and offered very little creatively or tactically. As a midfielder, he was pretty average IMO.

I don't even know - or care - what his record is against us. I'm just offering my views on a player I think has been grossly overrated by the media and fans alike.
