A huge majority of Liverpool fans are angered by Owen's move to Man U. He's a mercenary, no more, no less. All Reds gave their blessing to him moving to Real as he got out of the club as quick as he could, but him signing for the enemy is a two-fingered salute to all Liverpool fans.

Personally, I'm sure most players would do the same. I think any sane player would choose Old Trafford over Hull or Stoke, but it doesn't make the feelings of anger and betrayal go away!

I can understand why fans get upset if a player moves from their club to a rival, but I'm mystified why they'd be bothered two moves later. People dont seriously expect players to retain their allegiances to the extent that, years later, they'd turn down what is clearly an exceptional career move, do they?

I can't believe I'm commenting on overhyped, over priced mercenaries that are footballers but.... I'm not sure why so many Liverpool fans are bothered by Owen going to Utd. Surely Liverpool need to be looking for a striker who will fit into the system they play and therefore someone who has the same qualities as Torres. Owen IMO would not fit into the system.

As for Ferguson taking a gamble due to Owen's injuries I think it is minimal as Owen will not have the pressure of having to start every game and therefore be allowed to regain his fitness and not be forced onto the pitch to "save" a club as they have no other decent strikers ala his time at Newcastle.

Its the hate between the two clubs some Liverpool fans arent happy as are some man u fans its more so because Liverpool made him into a player he's a product of Liverpool some mancs hate the thought of a player with them links to Liverpool wearing the man u.
