| Quote: Robbie Rotten "A good win for us tonight. I thought Madrid really struggled, our midfield was too strong and Masch was walking it in my opinion.
Good win, no complaints, just hope we finish the job off now. What did Rafa say in his post-match interview? I missed it...'"
I thought Mascherano was pretty poor in the first half but improved after the break. Alonso had a good game though. Was doing the text commentary for this game tonight in work and mentioned that if anyone was going to get a goal it would be Benayoun, he stood out massively tonight, super performance all-round. Thought Carra and Arbeloa had good games too. These games suit Kuyt perfectly by the way, good showing from him.
Benitez's interview was what you'd expect, mentioned some contact between him and the owners I think, thats about it.

| Masch has looked nackered all year, I can understand why Benitez didn't want him to go to Beijing. He just seems to have lost some of that 'intensity', last year, at times, I felt like he carried Alonso who never quite looked sharp, but this year it's swapped around, Xabi's upped his game whilst Masch looks fatigued. I thought he was good tonight, supported the defence very well, and kept his passing tidy, I can't recall him giving it away.
Disappointed with the Torres injury, it was a shame he took the knock just after he had a good chance, I thought he'd come alive after that but the injury put him out of the game, literally.
Another good performance from Fabio, he's done this so many times since he's been at the club, started to get a run of games and he's proven himself to be very good, but injuries have always held him back. Hopefully Rafa brings Insua back in, him and Fabio rotating at left back is very good, in my opinion.
I could go on and on, but I feel Martin Skrtel continues to justify why Agger hasn't played as much as he'd like, he's now much more composed and he's our best defender I think.

| I'm glad to say I was totally wrong about tonight's game. I feared for Liverpool and once again they shock everybody and walk away with a stunning European victory!!
Interesting that Liverpool had twice as many Spaniards starting then Real had

Best player of all time, that lad.
Pele asks for *his* autograph. Diego Maradona has attended the Robinho footballing school of excellence.
There's a limited edition panini sticker book that just has a hundred pictures of robinho from different angles.

| I think Rafa has done a great job a Liverpool bu why does he always look like he isgoing to cry when asked tricky questions? Then he gives a nervous smile like he has just s'hit himself.

Yes he did. Problem is, people only want to hear want they want to hear and ignore the rest.
Shreeves asked him was he going to resign or words along that theme.
He clearly said "no", I heard him, pity Monkey Man and Souness didn't.
He also went on to say that he had talked with the owners and that would continue.

Maybe it's because English isn't his first language and he has to seriously think about what he says, given that the English press have a tendency to misinterpret what he says?
If he does the same when he answers questions in Spanish, then you may have a point.

ITV through up the stat the other night that Inter only had one Italian in their starting line up - seemingly it's not only the PL awash with foreigners.

Sounded to me like its still where it has been for a while, up in the air and under negotiation. It told us nothing new, in a positive or negative way.
