It was like playing Leeds in the playoffs. The only thing missing was Sinfield popping over the conversions.

| The banter not the same on here this season, may be for a few reasons.
1- Conroy hasn't made any stupid predictions for us to laugh at (sorry. just the one about fantasy being a year for WR's) he seem's to have been right about Cassel though.
2 -Nobody's team is doing really well
3- Eli has proved that he is the cream of the 2004 draft class and Ernie Accorsi was right.
How would you evaluate your team after about a 1/3 of the season? I like our easy win at the 49ers but our others wins were all against very bad teams in the panthers, bucs and browns. We have lost against two division foes which put's us at 0-2 and the game against the RG3skins as very important game. We have struggled with injuries but with Eli maturing into a top 5 QB he has made players like Randle and Barden look good, thinking about 10 wins for us.
I have been impressed with the Bears who are much better than I thoguht they would be, but would still take the Packers in a one-off game. The Packers along with Saints are the two teams in the conference I'd least like us too play. I think the Falcons are frauds and won't make any noise in the playoffs. Happy for the Rams few on here as they look a MUCH better team. A great weekend of games ahead.
Oh and I almsot forgot. Rodgers still not clutch.

| Patriots to rack up a monster score on the Jets this weekend I reckon. They do it to us even when we have the number 1 CB in the NFL playing so lord alone knows what they'll manage without him.

Done well from a tough opening that included trips to the Packers, Vikings and Jets. Took two from those and have three division games coming up starting with Seattle (H), Cardinals (A), Rams (H). We should be able to take the two home games although the Seahawks may cause problems with their defense i.e. we still struggle a bit if we fall behind a couple of scores. All our remaining games are against teams that are .500 or better (barring New Orleans) and I reckon 11-5 should be enough to win the NL West (which contains 4 of the top 5 defenses for pts conceded).
Overall I think we're still a work in progress and the comprehensiveness of the two defeats has definitely kept feet on the ground. Priors to the Vikings game the Superbowl vibe was flowing and that was jarring because we were hardly in it. Last week's humbling was a reminder of the difference between playing against proven winning team and one that's just in good form this season.

| I reckon Denver are more or less where we were at the end of last season. A decent team that isn't to be underrated but not quite there. Last year we were 8-8, we are 3-3 now but I'm hopeful we will improve over the second half of the season and be 9-7. The win over San Diego could be a watershed as it should put us in the box seat to drive ahead of them and win the AFC West.
All in all there are still a lot of shaky bits in the team but I'm happy with Manning's progress. Coming back from a year out and getting used to a new team he has settled very well and second half against the Chargers last week was classic Manning, calm and confident in the face of a huge deficit, calling the right plays and hitting the right passes all the time. From 7-28 down it felt inevitable that the Broncos were going to go on and win, Manning was just in control and Rivers lost his composure. I still think Manning is up in the top 2/3 QBs in the NFL.
Again that gives me cause for hope because Manning and the Broncos will only improve as they get used to each other.

Despite the record pretty pleased actually. Last year proved that it isn't how you start it is how you finish.
I think our defence was caught cold against San Fran and it was a truly terrible performance overall. We have picked it up since then and our defence has stepped up. That is what we need. We do not need a top 10 defence, anything above average is sufficient with the calibre of our offence.
Offence started slowly (for a number of reasons), but we are back upto speed now and Godgers is at MVP level as usual. Leads the league in TD's and has the highest passer rating in the league. Speaking of which he today got to 150 TD's in the 2nd fewest games (Marino) ever, however he has by far the lowest INT's at 150 TD's (27 less than 2nd place Marino). Unfortunately i think this is the end of Greg Jennings as a Packer. He is a brilliant, top 10 receiver but we have been able to cope without him with Nelson and Cobb looking outstanding. With key re-signings needed soon (Clay, BJ and Rodgers) I just can't see there being the scope to keep them all without compromising the team elsewhere.
Still one of the best teams in the league and i think we will win the North. I think the Vikes will fall away and the Bears will lose a few more than us.
Fancy our chances in the play-offs too. San Fran will never win anything with Alex Smith at QB. Much the same I just don't see Matt Ryan getting it done, and anywhere other than indoors the Falcons are a different team.
I'd hate to play the Giants in the play-offs. They are the perfect (perhaps only formula) that could beat us if we are playing well. They have a good defence and are capable of going toe to toe in a shootout (though obviously i'd give us a slight edge with having the better QB) but they are also capable of slowing the game down when neccesary. There are very few teams who could do that to us.

Nice try.

| Beat Crewe in a Charity game this afternoon 42-21, then the Raiders won in OT. Great day overall.

| I've got a Dynasty Draft on Thursday night, and having never been in a Dynasty League was wondering if you lads have ever been in one? Not sure of the tactic - but I've got the first pick! Not too sure which way to go, I usually go RB's in one year drafts, but with this one I'm thinking of playing it safe and going with Rodgersas the first pick, then take it from there. What do you lads reckon? Could RGIII be the man to build a dynasty franchise around?

I'm absolutely delighted so far!
With so many rookies on the squad, and a head coach laid up with cancer, things are always going to be difficult, but right now we're legit playoff contenders in the AFC!
Offensively, Andrew Luck is going to be something special, it's amazing how composed he is for a rookie, and a first road win yesterday will only aid this further. It looks as though slowly but surely we're starting to be able to run the ball, this largely due to starting Vick Ballard who offers a lot more than Donald Brown. I still think Luck could do with some extra offensive weapons in his nal. Apart from Reggie Wayne he hasn't really got any other go to guys, although Coby Fleener and Donnie Avery have made some nice plays.
Defensively we're a lot more sound than we have been of late. We seem to have adjusted pretty well after the switch to 3-4, and have been missing key players such as Mathis and Angerer who are making their way back for the business end of the season. Also, Jerrelle Freeman has been a superb pickup from the Canadian Football League and has helped to sure us up around the middle.
I think there's a real chance that we end the season 10-6, which would be more than enough for a playoffs spot in the AFC this year. I can see us getting wins against Miami, Jacksonville, Buffalo, Detroit, KC and Tennesse but losing to New England and Houston x2 between now and the end of the season.
But as they say, Rome wasn't built in a day, and we're certainly heading back to where we need to be after a difficult couple of years!

| Big win for the Broncos over the Saints, more big numbers being put up by Manning. It's so good to have him as a Bronco.

| Anyone go to the Wembley game on Sunday? Massively disappointed with the performance, but was still a good day. Think I really need to go to a game in St Louis to get the proper experience, as the atmosphere was pretty muted for large parts of the game.
Is it just me or does this thread take an absolute age to load? Don't know if it's because it's 600+ pages now? Maybe time to start a new one?

Yeah. The problem was that about halfway through the second quarter the result became obvious and that killed of the atmosphere.
And the thread is taking a long time to load.
