| Cardiff fan here. Got into hockey itself from an old school friend of mine back who was a big Manchester Storm fan. Took me to a game where they were playing the Cardiff Devils. As I refused to support the Manchester team, I pledged allegiance to Cardiff and have done so ever since.

Don't go to that many now. Went for the first time this season last night. Actually prefer this lower league as teams are only allowed 4 import players. You should get down there it's not a bad evening out. Gets pretty cold in there though.
Anyone know the reason why the national anthem is always played before ice hockey games?

| Keep meaning to go to watch t'Phoenix, but its a bit far to get to Alty from Bradford. Used to go to watch them at MEN whilst I was at uni (in the first post- Manchester Storm season) then when I lived over in Wigan I used to enjoy my Sunday evening trips down to Altrincham.
Another option is Sheffield Steelers, wouldn't mind seeing them up against Nottingham. Its a shame West Yorkshire doesn't have a team playing at a reasonable level, not sure the Bradford team in the ENL North count as that!!

| Only just discovered this forum, excellent!! I'm a Phoenix season ticket holder although i've missed a few games already this season, cant encourage people enough to get down to any of their local teams and watch a game, behind RL its my favourite sport!
As for the national anthem being played before the games i'm not too sure why they do it, i'm guessin its an old tradition they just stick with!

Have only been to a couple so far this season, but we don't seem to be gelling as well as last season yet. Prefer this league to the elite league though. It seems any team can beat any other on the day. Only 4 points between top at 6th place at the moment I think?

| I'm still pretty new to ice hockey, I went to watch Manchester Phoenix last season and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've been meaning to go back but I've been absolutely skint, it's definitely high on my things to do list though.

Yea the epl is the better league for phoenix IMO. The league seems alot more open this year with the likes of sheffield having a stronger team this term, yea its abut 5 or 6 points seperating 1st from 6th atr the minute!
We do seem to be taking abit longer to gel this season but i think its starting to come together now, injuries to a couple of players haven't helped the start either but i've every faith Sir Tony will sort it out. In Hand we trust!!

| I went to every Blackburn Hawks games for years and saw some great players play for us,but when they dropped down the leagues and stopped paying for imports the standard of hockey got so low I gave up watching them.If they ever did put some effort into having a good team and joined the league the Phoenix are in i'd start going back to watch them. When you've seen players the likes of Moria and Chartrand play for you, paying to watch a team nowhere near that kind of standard doesn't do it for me.

Remember as an avid Humberside Seahawks fan going to Blackburn and all us travelling fans wore bermuda shorts, hawaiian shirts and marigolds not the warmest of arenas.
Over the years the Blackhawks/Hawks have had some other quality players Perlini, Damphousse, Trent Kaese, Doc Durdle, Bobby & John Haig, Stokes.
Shame British hockey took such a nose dive when Heineken pulled out.
