Someone should be having a word with Trevor Chappell, get him to give Rich Pyrah some pointers.
After a poor T20 knock yesterday (even allowing for the fact we were missing four first-teamers through injury/illness/rep call ups) it's back on the CC horse against Warwickshire at Headingley today.
Won the toss, opted to bat and 119-1 at lunch. Another 50 for Adam Lyth. If he keeps this up for the next ten years he might get an England Lions call-up.

| Hmmm, interesting days cricket so far.
Yorkies piling on the runs again at Headingley against Warks: 297-4
Notts skittling Essex for 154 but 83-5 in reply
Lancs 0-2 after 4 balls . Looks like a repeat of the Derby match where we lose early wickets then scratch around before setting a modest total which Worcs knock off in 15 overs. Come on Lancy sort the batting out!!!

Have recovered well, Smith has just let loose, and of all things, Chilton, yes, him, is going at a rate of more than a run a ball!

| Easy win in the end for Lancs.A win over the Yorkies on Friday and we'll be well on the way to qualify for the Quarter finals.

| Good win in the end for Lancs especially after the starts to both innings'. The spinners turned it round yet again when needed, Parry and Kerrigan are coming along a treat.
Tom Smith is now the top run scorer in the northern division and the 3rd top scorer in all. Who'd have thought that??

| Yorkshire 425 all out, the tail not hanging around long in support of Pyrah.
Time for Tino to spray the new ball across various parts of LS6 for a few overs until the spinners get on then...

| Essex: 154 & 316-7 (108.1 overs)
Nottinghamshire: 180 (47.0 overs)
Yorkshire: 425 (124.5 overs)
Warwickshire: 253 & 14-0 (5.0 overs)
Essex going well 2nd time round (touch wood) and hopefully can hang around long enough to set Notts 350+ which will hopefully be too much. Yorkies looking good for the win unless the rain gods can weave their magic .

Instead, he managed to spray Jim Troughton's nose all over various parts of LS6. Got one between the lid and the grille at around the 94mph mark.

Part 1 completed with Essex thrashing Notts.
Part 2 underway with rain forcing the players off at Headingley with Warwickshire 21 ahead with 7 (maybe only 6) wickets in hand

All we need to do now is teach him to aim at the little wooden things behind the batsmen and he might just turn out to be a worthwhile overseas player.
If only Yorkshire had been able to get Ryan Harris, their original choice prior to his call up by the Australian national team. I think we saw enough in the ODIs recently to suggest he'd have been a real handful in English conditions.
Edit - Warwickshire now 95 in front with 4 wickets remaining (providing Troughton can bat again, which is dependant on the swelling around his eye going down enough to get a helmet on). If he can't then the current pair of Carter and Clarke represent the last real resistance you would think.
Is it just the typically pessimistic Yorkshireman in me that can see these two batting out most the afternoon session and Yorkshire being left chasing 150 plus to win it?
