1883.jpg Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

53838_1362327793.jpg And so you aim towards the sky,
And you'll rise high today,

| Quote: McClennan "Slow death here for this. Silly making that third substitution so early especially after thingy went off. Silva again though. What a player, possibly player of the tournament for me.'"
....I love your City bias!!... ......He contributed definitely, but he wasn't a stand out player.
As for the game, I thought it was a great game.....Spain put that much needed spark to all the passing. That was all that me and the critics really wanted - The passing is a good thing, but the toothlessness of it all before tonight made it frustrating to watch.....Remind me a bit of a top class boxer who seems reluctant to exert themselves against inferior foe, but once involved in a real challenge, simply rises to the occasion and shows their true class.
Bit harsh on Italy....Prandelli went bold with early subs, but then went pear-shaped when Motta had to go off almost immediately....Wouldn't have changed the outcome, but 4-0 and Spain playing with a one-man advantage for 30 minutes probably made the winners look even more convincing than it probably would have been.

| John Cross from the Mirror embarrassing on Twitter tonight. Somehow turns this victory into a glorious night for Chelsea. Maggot.

He did contribute two goals and three assists which was the most involvement in goals in the tournament until the second half (and he may still be) so although you can say somebody else was better I'm pretty sure he'll be in the team of the tournament

Did you not read it before? Apparently Italy had to win for the good of the game, something about not rewarding negativity. Yeah, right. Then he's saying things like "three of the scorers from best league in the world", what a div. It's got nothing to do with the PL, nothing at all but any chance for a bit of a gloat and a knob like him is at it.
He also said Spurs getting rid of Redknapp was 'up there with Venky's' in terms of poor ownership decisions.
Would love to know why I'm embarrassing, would love to know why two scorers playing for Chelsea tonight means their season is somehow bettered. SFA to do with Chelsea.

Indeed, I need to start getting behind the man who will begin the revolution of English football. Out of the window go things like the 4-4-2, the flat banks of four, the narrow midfield and the defensive mentality. Now England begins, the bridge is already being built and 2014 will be ours. Hoorah!

| Will hold my hands up tonight and say Spain were world class, they were far far more direct and attacking then the previous games though, by a long way. They didn't bother with faffing around with the ball in their own half as much, approaching HT Spain had only made about 20 more passes than Italy as opposed to the usual +200. Tonight they were anything but boring They just seemed to up a gear, the gear that i will now dub the ''look, we can f*uck you up anytime we want to'' gear.
Still wish pundits etc would stop going all Shakespearean in their praise though.

Sounds like something from RAWK regarding Liverpool. Saw a belter re-tweeted by @RAWK_Meltdown yesterday: (Re: Spain), ''Benitez's Liverpool played this way long before Barca/Spain did.

| At least it was an interesting final, and that can't always be said.
It's hard to see how any team in the competition could have beat Spain in that final.
Which is slightly worrying for the future, I'm not keen on monopolies.
Hopefully things go in cycles.
But I will admire Spain if the can win in Brazil. They will truly be the greatest side ever, if they are not that already.
England are pathetic in comparison.

| Italy were physically and mentally beaten before it kicked off. It was a non contest.
Player of the tournament? Jordi Alba. Best leftback in the world? On the evidence of this tournament he is, he's looked miles better than Ashley Cole, he has it all. Defensively looks very solid, passes the ball like a midfielder, has pace, can cross and is a genuine goal threat. His energy and stamina is remarkable. In the game against Portugal he was bombing on in extra time, then chasing back, then bombing on. He's a sensational player .
