Quote: Dan_FC "Think your penalty was extremely harsh on Villa, as the ball comes over the top he chases the ball and Malouda just stops so Collins is bound to go in the back of him, he barely touches his shoulder and he throws himself over. As for the Villa one, no question, had to be. Terrible tackle by Essien.'"

Collins is wrong side of Malouda. He leaps up, making no contact with the ball and never getting near the ball. He lands virtually on top of Malouda and impedes Malouda. It's a pen. You don't deserve to be rewarded for dreadful defending, which is what Collins did. If Collins had done what he should have done he'd have not tried to head the ball and outmuscled Malouda shoulder to shoulder.

Quote: Dan_FC "yet minutes later Ferreira just trips Ashley Young and Mason doesn't book him. Both sides committed 9 fouls in first hald yet Mason dishes out 6 Villa yellows to Chelsea's one.'"

I think it was Essien who got lucky not to be booked? Right wing, just next to the box.

As I said, the challenges in the first 15 minutes were the ones I was massively peed off about. Petrov then rightfully deserved to be booked. Then Villa had Collins and Freidel booked for giving the ref a right mouthful.

He is the wrong side of Malouda but Malouda could've easily been penalised for obstruction, as Collins goes chases the ball when it's first floated over Malouda just stops and that could've been perceived as a foul. Collins is over the back of Malouda but again, imo that's because Malouda arches his back in anticipation of Collins and finally a tap on the shoulder then after a step Malouda goes down. It was a bit of a mess all round and I agree it was really bad defending from Collins in the first place but it's a 50 50 that Mason could've called either way.

Quote: Lord God Jose Mourinho "I totally agree that Reo Coker was unlucky to be booked for that. I didn't think he did anything wrong.

I think it was Essien who got lucky not to be booked? Right wing, just next to the box.'"

You could be right and probably are, actually. Yes it was the on the right hand side of the box and it was a trip on either Agbonlahor or Young. Clear trip and just after Mason had booked Reo Coker for nothing it was strange he kept the card in his pocket.

Quote: Lord God Jose Mourinho "As I said, the challenges in the first 15 minutes were the ones I was massively peed off about. Petrov then rightfully deserved to be booked. Then Villa had Collins and Freidel booked for giving the ref a right mouthful.'"

I think it just proves how poor a referee Mason is tbh, he gave them fouls virtually everytime a Villa player fell then following the penalty gave Chelsea countless free kicks and decided it was time to start dishing cards out for any foul going.

What did you make of the Drogba/Terry discussion going on after the match, if you saw it? Drogba clearly unhappy with how it was defended but Terry seemed to dismiss Drogba. I think he had every right to question it, after getting back infront and going into injury time it was criminal defending, how the whole backline just left Clark is unbelievable.

From BBC;

1546: Interesting to read into a couple of the celebrations for Chelsea's goals just now. Nobody seemed to want to congratulate Didier Drogba for his equaliser, while the whole team went nuts when John Terry bagged what was perceived to be the winner, running over to embrace Carlo Ancelotti. So, whether or not Drogba is Mr Popular, the squad are behind their manager, I think?

The TV was off at the final whistle. A bad weekend made worse by my team.

If all the players are behind Ancelotti they need to show it for 90 minutes, not a 5 minute period at the end. And then finish early because they think they've won.

I just think there's so much wrong with the way we play Ancelotti either hasn't got a clue or the players just want rid.

I didn't see it, but there was a comment about a big disagreement between Terry and Drogba during the Arsenal game.

You're red scousefilth?

Not as cringworthy as they greatest supporters in the world only getting 35,000 because they're in mid-table.

I could care less what the players do to celebrate when they score. I just wish they'd do it more often. The players who ran towards Ancelotti may desperately want him to stay as CFC manager and succeed. If that's their feeling I could care less if they ran towards him when they scored.

Better than doing what Ashley Young did, anyway. If you want to large it in front of opposition supporters you'd better be able to stand up for yourself if someone responds to your bait or a missile crashes into your head.

Can't say I'm surprised, that was a big blow. It was a debate about the defending by the looks of it, Drogba was pointing towards the goal and Terry was just waving it away trying to get off the pitch. Drogba went after him and put his arm around Terry but he didn't seem too interested. Although Drogba does have a point, it was woeful defending.

Well, it was Terry who made the initial run towards Ancelotti and started those celebrations the rest just followed so not sure if it shows anything tbh.

It definately seemed to carry on after today's game.

I am not a Kopite, no, and yes i agree with your sentiments regarding the dip in attendance at Anfield. I'm a Red Manc, and i would find it just as cringe-worthy if Rooney and co pegged it towards Fergie like that to be honest. I think the only team who i would think are proper bell-ends for doing it would be City, as if a team of Mercs gives a rats bum about Mancini icon_biggrin.gif

In other news, The Canairies are flying in the Championship under Paul Lambert, a win today would see them second, three points off league leaders QPR.

Hudds v Weds was a great game today.

More oddly, Grimsby have so far scored 12 in two games!

brilliant to see The Canaries up where they belong in the upper half of division 2 - as a Norfolk lad it's great to see them doing well again - Paul Lambert is doing a fine job which means he will be poached for bigger things unfortunately.

just reminiscing here but I was there when The Canaries first clinched their first ever 1st division place - it was at Watford in the early 70s with Dave Stringer heading in the goal from a corner to earn a point to secure promotion - I was behind the goal and it was definitely one of those 'I was there when' moments...thank you Ron Saunders for building that team ... icon_cheers.gif
